This isn't the first time that I've read that reason being given for a Venture X rejection. Makes me wonder if their issue was with having 14 cards across multiple issuers or with you already having a Venture and what sounds like might be a Quicksilver.
Sorry about that denial. I gotta say, out of all the issuers here being inconsistent with approvals across the same product, that VentureX card seems to have more inconsistency than anything else I have noticed.
Cap one has different criteria I used to have the cap one venture and the reason was I coupled that with plastiq to pay my mortgage and every year they waived the annual fee due to the spend amount. When cap one closed that avenue I dumped the card.
I got interested in the venture x due to the lounge acces, but was rejected due to too many revolving accounts and recent opened accounts(my crypto cards).
there ideal candidate uses the card plenty and keeps a balance. It's laughable now on their pre-qual the best I can do is a secure card with them
The VentureX does intrigue me. But seeing as I have 2 cap one cards already and spend maybe $100/month between the two of them, that probably explains why the Platinum Secured card is the only thing I ever get pre-quald for.
@whoknows1 If your not concerned about signup bounce, you probably can upgrade your Venture to Venture X
Capone probably has you at max limit that they are willing to give you based on your spending!
Very interesting that they denied you. Doesn't make much sense to be honest. From the limited time I have been on these forums there does not seem to be any real reason why they deny such high income earners from getting their card. For months I kept getting pre-approved for a SavorOne card but didn't really see much value in it due to my CSP. Decided to pull the VentureX trigger since I wanted a card with lounge access and got approved. Seems CapOne is odd.
You say you already have 2 Cap1 cards, they only usually let you have only 2 cards at a time with some exceptions.

Based on DPs that I've seen, that rule doesn't apply to the Venture X.
