Spoke to Discover. Denial reasons were: too many inquiries and too high utilization. My utilization is 2%...2%! The woman on the phone repeatedly said to me that she could not comment on whether or not that was high, but she did confirm my current balances. I asked her personally if she thought 2% was high, but she could not comment.
They said there was nothing they could do and the decision was final.
BEYOND upset.
Real reason = "We have no chance to make a profit from you, as you don't carry balances."
OP sorry to hear about this, especially frustrating after knowing your own stellar history AND seeing a pre-approval from them. This is one of those data points others will be referencing for months to come: "Well there was another member who had great credit and high lines and was denied." Definitely unfortunate but as they say, plenty of other banks who will be happy to have your business (Even though Disco felt they wouldn't get any from you.)
I just feel incredibly defeated. I really wanted that 5% back. Meanwhile, my roommate has a Discover card with far worse credit and is currently in default on a large balance.

How many of those inquiries are recent? If you went on a recent spree, that's probably it.
The last one was December 2017 from Amex.
OP,
Your sig lists your FAKO scores. What are your actual FICO scores?

My EX is, in fact, my real fico score. The other two are vantage. That is the score that they pulled, my other ones should not matter for this purpose.

I suppose...truly a shame.
