I was denied a Sears card because of "limited history" and a "serious delinquency." The delinquency was a car payment that has now been on time for over a year. I'm not sure how long that will haunt me but no one else that has given me credit has seemed to bothered by it because all of my bills have been paid on time. (Husband got laid off because the company he was working for shut down, there was nothing we could do to keep the car payment paid unfortunately and we were paying, we just weren't paying enough. It was a very bad situation and we are with a horrible tiny company that probably adds fuel to the fire. We dealt with a lot of crap with that company and have disputed a few things with their billing as it is.) Anyhow and limited history, not sure how "limited" they are talking because my AAOC is like 8 months last I checked so it's not horrible.
Anyhow I can't find a backdoor number at all, so I'm called customer service and one girl said she "can't over ride the decision by the credit bureau." I thought the credit bureau gave them the info on my report and they made the decision themselves. Silly me. The next person said they don't do recons I have to apply again. Also wrong. Does anyone know what number is good or who I need to talk to? I know people have reconned and gotten approved for this card so I know it can be done. Now that I've wasted an inquiry I might as well make it count. Thank you!
Sears is one of those "elusive cards" from my experience and in my opinion that's Citibank. Try 1-800-695-5171 and in the future if you plan to recon...look on http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/Backdoor-Numbers/td-p/408066 it's chocked full of good info. Good Luck
It's not in the backdoor number list. That's why I posted this.
Citi number is no good, they said they don't handle Sears and gave me the regular Sears customer service number that I originally tried...
Had the girl transfer me to that original number and keep getting told the same thing, they "don't do recons." I see several threads on here of people that have done them though so I'm not understanding what number they called. Citi says they don't deal with it, to contact Sears and Sears said they only recon if it's a "mistake" on your report.
Yes they said they don't deal with Sears cards, Sears has to. Sears says they don't do recons. Giant vicious circle. I'd drop it but I have seen others get it reconned so I know it can be done, it's just finding the correct department to do so.
