Second Discover Card

Is Discover a HP or a SP for a second card? How are they on second card CL's?

Can get a pre-approval w/741 FICO and no baddies but not trying to register a HP. (Yeah, I know there's always that possibility)

Thanks!

Re: Second Discover Card

With Discover it's most likely going to be a hard pull on at least one of the CRAs, also (if you don't already know) be mindful that they used to have the stipulation that your 1st card had to be open for at least a year before applying for the second one.

Re: Second Discover Card

I want to try this. I have a couple more cards that I "need" in my collection, then I want a 2nd Disco Cash Back to hit the double points again.

Re: Second Discover Card

Last summer when I was complaining to them about not being able to PC my Chrome to Cash Back they brought up the 1 year rule  to apply for a 2nd Disco.  I found it amusing when they said well since you're past a full year with your account you're eligible to apply for the Cash Back card (I was really at 8 months unless they counted my pre burning them in BK history). Nonetheless, looks like they use EX for the HP approval and TU for SP CLIs.

Thanks, first card is about 4 years old. Seems bucketed but I don't use it much and I know Discover likes to see spend. Main reason I don't want to invest a HP with them.

Re: Second Discover Card

Disco loves to be your go to card. Take care of her and she'll return the favor. Yes I went the second card route. I spanked the catagories knowing how to run it up for the cash back match. Second card was a higher SL. Then combined them. Dont think they do that any longer. Still sleep on the Tempur-Pedic remote controlled mattress for free! Smiley Very Happy

Discover doesn't bucket, but definitely they like to see usage. That would be why you haven't gotten CLIs.

But I'm confused though; if you don't really use the one card you already have, why do you want a second one? For the SUB? 🤔

Re: Second Discover Card

Started with an it 2 years ago a 1k. Another it 13 months ago at 1k. Very small increases. first one is now 3k. The second one Is now at 3k with back to back month 1k increases. Got an offer for 6 months of 0%.

I dont use them much. I guess i can see they want to be my go to card. 'Also in the same boat with Amex. 1k and one that was $1,900 just raised to 5k, Amex everydays.  How do I get these to 10k plus with light spending or must I do heavy use?

My file is only 4 years. With 25 cards, and with a recent spree(2 months ago) of adding 5 cards around 10k SL's.
