Shall I apply again?

I recently got approved for a capital one secured credit card. I started building credit last December. I am new to credit.

I read on some forum here that if you get approved for one credot card from one company you can apply for another one and your approval odds with them is high.

So shall I apply for another creditcard with capital one in order to have more than one credit line so I can build credit faster?

Re: Shall I apply again?

Probably, Capital One is very good to build your credit with. Go to their website and "see if you're pre-qualified" and check what it says!

What are your scores? Income? Other cards?

Scores are 675 and 668; tu and equi. I do have another secured credit card from bofa. I am a full time medical student.

Re: Shall I apply again?

Scores look good for another Cap One card but lack of income could hurt. Have you checked the pre-qualification? If anything the Journey card is nice and can grow with you.

Do you have any negatives on your credit profile?

Re: Shall I apply again?

I have income from other sources which could be stated but I use those incomes to pay for my expenses and tution. Can I still use them to apply for another credit card?

When I use pre qualify tool, it suggests applying for quick silver and venture. But I am not sure if the tool is being overly optimistic.

No I do not have any negatives on my credit. Just 2 hard inquiries.

Re: Shall I apply again?

Does it suggest, or does it say "Congratulations!" and give you a specific APR instead of a range?
And yes, you can use your income! If it says congratulations, I would go ahead and apply for one of those cards!

Either way, you are in no rush. You will surely be in better shape in a few months and have more choices!

Re: Shall I apply again?

Wait until you have a current credit card that has reported to the credit bureaus for the past 6 months. Then you can apply for much better cards than secured cards.
