Should I app for Amex Delta?

I have 3 Amex accounts: PRG, BCE, & Hilton Surpass. I just recently apped for a cli on my Surpass and got asked for a 4506T so I cancelled. If I app for an Amex Delta is it likely they won't approve without me giving them income verification? My FICO according to Amex is a 750, 6-figure income, no baddies, perfect repayment history with them, oldest Amex is from 2007. The Surpass is only 3 months old and is my newest Amex, BCE is about 2 years.

Re: Should I app for Amex Delta?

If you travel on Delta frequently and exclusively, AND use this card to buy tickets and in-flight purchases, then go for it. If any of these conditions are iffy, then its not worth it, since there are many other travel rewards cards with better benefits with or without AF. Just because it is an easy approval shouldn't be a deciding factor. Keep in mind, that the days when this card could be PCd are long gone. Now you can only PC it to another Delta card.

Re: Should I app for Amex Delta?

I should also mention that there are always AMEX deals/specials that have shown up only for this card, at least for me. A recent one that I used was 10% back on cell phone bills for three months. However, these type of deals are not what this card is for. Nice that they come up, once in a blue moon.

Re: Should I app for Amex Delta?

Do you fly exclusively Delta all the time?  Will this card get used or you are apping just because it is another Amex product?

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

Re: Should I app for Amex Delta?

I travel Delta for work quite a bit and I know spending $25k per year on the card can help you get medallion status with them; that's honestly the biggest reason why I want it. I know it also helps you get Comfort+ seats which I sometimes now have to pay $29 for. The sign-up bonus is a nice plus too. My SO does have this card and I guess I could be added as AU onto his but I don't know if that would qualify for the spend requirement on my Skymiles account.

My big concern is apping for it and having them say no because they want the 4506 from me. I know that wouldn't count as an HP if that's the case since there's no new account but I just haven't read a lot on here about people apping for new accounts after being asked for the 4506T. I also don't want a FR if it looks like I'm apping for a new TL as a way of circumventing the income verification while also getting additional credit extended to me...maybe it's just me being paranoid but I don't know these things so that's really why I'm asking.

I don't know if you ended up getting one or not but here are my thoughts.

1. If you travel on Delta often enough, you should be able to get medallion status just by flying. At least Silver elite. But yes, spending 25K on the card would take away the mediallion dollar requirement, which makes it easier to get medallion

2. The Delta card does not get you Comfort+ seats. Being medallion does but having the card does not. You still have to pay for it if you have the card and are not medallion.

3. I think you have a good chance of approval without a 4506. I would say go for it.

Personally, I think your PRG card is a much better card for earning miles to fly delta since you get 3X points for travel and 2X points for grocery stores and restaurants. Each MR point transfers to 1 delta mile. I want the PRG once I can get a better sign up bonus and would likely use my Delta card less (or potentially cancel it). I fly delta exclusively (for pleasure) but since I take about 2 international trips a year, I don't need the Delta branded card to get Medallion status.
