Should I take another HP?

Hello Again Community,

So, I have a kind of a dilemma. I’ve recon my TYP denial twice now. Because I really want this card, I thought I would try one more time and had planned on emailing the CEO on Monday. Well life happened, and I didn’t get to do it until today. I just received a called from an EO and she tells me she wants to help, but that my CR is no longer on file. I’ve just missed the 30day deadline. The lady I spoke to was really nice and she understood that I didn’t want to endure another HP so she offered her number for me to call if I want to re-apply at a later date. I thought this was really nice, so I asked if I could think about it for a few days, and she said that was fine.

So, my hesitation is, while I know Citibank has a policy regarding collections, I also have two old judgments on my CRs. Both are from 2008, and I did mention them in my email, but I didn’t indicate that one is a tax lien. In my previous two attempts at recon, none of the three CSRs that I spoke with stated they were a problem, but I was wondering if anyone here was declined due to a judgment/tax lien. I really don’t want to approve a third HP and get denied because of some other factors. Assuming they’re willing to approve me with the collection.

Thanks so much in advanced!

Re: Should I take another HP?

After two recent failed recons my guess is that you would be wasting the hard pull.

Re: Should I take another HP?

Agree with CAPTOOL. You've tried to recon the denial twice without success. I don't see a third HP making any positive difference.

Re: Should I take another HP?

Thank you both for replying. I understand your points, but the CSRs I spoke with stated they didn't have the authority to approve me, and since I addressed the collection in my email, if it would be a straight denial, would she even bother to look into it?

Re: Should I take another HP?

I was approved for double cash in July with a 6 1/2 year old unpaid judgement.

I don't think anyone of us would be able to answer that question for you. Each profile is different so it's a YMMV thing. If you feel that you would be approved via the EO route then go for it. I personally would let it be and let a little more time go by.

Re: Should I take another HP?

Thanks so much for replying J! IMO everything regarding whether or not someone will be successful is YMMV. I was only asking if anyone had been denied for either an old collection or an old tax debt. Basically asking if there is another policy out there that I was not made awere of that could possible result in another denial. Like I know NASA has a specific rule regarding tax debts and that it's basically an automatic denial if you have one (from what was told to me).

I don't have any judgment/collection experience with CITI bank.  But they denied me for the Double Cash, I contacted EO and was approved for 1k.  Got the card and applied for CLI and was denied.  Contacted EO and was approved for the requested 5k cli.  My initial denials was because I had a ton of inquries on EX along with new accounts.  Good luck if you decide to go again.
