Should I try a CLI for Apple Card right now?

It's been just over 3 months since I received my card with a $9K limit. I've spent about $2500 on it over the past 3 months. Have I spent enough to get a CLI? (800+ credit score on Experian, fyi,, probalby similar on TU)

I have a custom $4K MB Pro that's still being built,, and due to ship beginning of March. Should I wait till after that?

And the CLI is a soft pull, yes?

thanks!

John

CLIs are soft pulls. Doesn't hurt to ask now, though I would wait until you've put a little more spend through it.

I would definitely wait for more spend to give you a better chance of approval. I would be surprised if they approved you just based on that spending.

Any suggestions how much to spend? I'll just start using it as my main (sans Amazon purchases.)

If I remember correctly it was 25%-30% as a minimum according to our DPs. You are borderline currently, so you might not need that much more. This is a minimum though. The more spending the higher your chance.

oh? I thought that % meant how much I need to spend /month? as in $3K (30% of 9K) per month.  This is total amount before asking?

Im sorry but if its a sp to apply for a cli whats the harm in asking  for one now? A denial, possibly but thats not going to be held against anyone in the future. Dont force spend just in hopes of getting a cli. Spend naturally you will be better off in the long run.

No, it's over the next three months before you ask for a CLI. Look at @Aim_High's second response https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/Apple-Card-CLI-HOW/m-p/6460256

What @AverageJoesCredit says, is true though. Don't spend on something you wouldn't normally just to get an increase.

I'd wait 6 months and apply at that point. I've seen lots of good first time CLI doing it that way and also with a lot of usage and payments. My first CLI I was denied flatout because I didn't use the card (and I didn't) changed up and waited 6 months on the next request and got a nice one.

Good point, I appreciate that. I definitely won't spend *more money*,, just moving more purchases to the Apple Card vs my two other main ones (that get better points).
