Sketchy verification phone call

So I recently received a few offers through Chase, and decided to apply for the CSP, then a week later the FU. I received 30 day messages on both. So today, Saturday, I received a phone call from an 800 number. Now, normally I don't answer these, but since I knew I had applications out I decided to answer. The rep on the other end sounded really choppy, and I could barely hear her. She said she was calling with chase and needed my information. So I politely hung up, as I'm not about to just dish out all my personal inforamtion to whoever wants it. I then called the number back, and it did appear to be a Chase number. I spoke to another rep who said that the verificaion number was closed for inbound calls on the weekend, and that she could transfer me to lending. I told her I didn'r really want to speak with lending, as I read on the forums that this could kill my application. She said not to worry, that she'll explain the situation. So I then get transferred to lending, and he told me he sees the applications are in verification. He gave me the number, but now I have to wait until Monday. This was just a really weird situaiton. Why would they call on a weekend, if I can't call them back!? Have any of you gone through this?

Re: Sketchy verification phone call

They did the same to me on my first app. I also let them know I had no idea who they were and would call back. I remember I was at work so it was a weekday. I would say this is good news for you. If they spent the time to verify, my guess is you probably will be approved.

Keep us posted   :]

Re: Sketchy verification phone call

I just applied for a CSP about 2 hours ago and I'm still getting the 30-day message on the automated line. How long after your app until they called you?

Re: Sketchy verification phone call

Did yours end up being approved? And I really hope they get approved. I've had a Freedom for about 6 months now, so I'd really like to add a new card(or two) and then combine them after they grow a little. Here  I was, content just waiting out the 30 days, and now this phone call has me on edge. Haha. I'll definitely post the update when I call back on Moday.

Thanks for the kind words. Cheers!

Re: Sketchy verification phone call

Congrats!! A few questions: Do you have any other cards with them? If so, how long? Was it a 'your offer' card?

And to answer your original question, It's been about 6 days I think.

Re: Sketchy verification phone call

Yes I have a freedom that I got in february. Two months ago to the day actually. It wasn't a your offer I still haven't had anything come up on that. This was a regular pre-qual from the chase website I was pre-approved for CSP CFU and slate. This was the first day since being approved for freedom I haven't gotten the "no offers" page after submitting my info.

Re: Sketchy verification phone call

So it's now Monday...I called back the verification department. She confirmed social, name, address, and then texted me a verification code. Once I read it back we waited and...Approved for both the FU and CSP ($3,500; $5,000)! Pretty pumped. Now I'll use them for about a year, then combine them into my Freedom.
