I'm still mulling over whether to take the Walmart Store Card prequalification offer I got in the mail Wednesday. I'm told it's fairly easy to get this card, but that my chances of approval may be better if I apply in-store rather than online (I've seen a couple of comments from people who had particularly good luck at the electronics and jewelry counters). Also, I don't know whether this will be a hard pull or a soft pull. I've seen reports indicating that one or the other can happen without any particular pattern to it. It's a single-figure APR offer (23.65%) but unlike with Discover I don't know whether it means anything in this case. Thoughts?
I received the same offer last week and was denied, but your scores are higher than mine. I posted a thread about it, if you want more information; there are are informative replies.

To be candid I'm kind of in a mood to try my luck this morning, since I got a CLI on my Discover overnight and just hit the "luv" button for another one (a small one, but gift horses and all that). I'm in my local Merchants' Tire right now getting a screw out of a tire but may head down to Walmart after this (though I just remembered I left my prequal letter at home, so I'd better go back and get that first
.

Heck yeah, you might as well! Hopefully your higher scores you give you a better result than I got. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out; maybe I can live vicariously through you

Off topic but buy a $7 tire patch kit on Amazon and watch a YouTube video or two on using it.
Tire patches can be done safely at home in 30 seconds. Keep a kit in the car always, it's a lifesaver. I've removed screws and patched in probably 15 tires (city living). My fastest ever was under 90 seconds including jacking up the car!
Yeah, I've been meaning to get one for a while. I have a 2016 Hyundai Accent and "genuine" Hyundai kits run something like $35 a pop on Amazon and eBay (this repair cost me $19.99 plus tax), so I'll have to watch for a quality "generic" kit. I live in Northern Virginia so I expect I should thank my lucky stars I only had one tire to fix this morning!
Back OT, just swung back home real quick to retrieve the prequal letter. I'll have to decide whether to take it to the customer service center or the electronics counter for better results.
We can lock and load, I got approved (believe it or not, I did the app on my iPhone at the store!)
Congratulations!...I hate you
The Walmart card is a good card for 0% promotional financing, Free TU FICO acores and it'll grow. Only draw back is the higher APR which is typical of any GE/Sync card. Don't forget not to get into trouble getting cash back at the register (no fee, same as a charge for goods) - the APR will kill any savings if you don't PIF.
Note, Wife has a $10k Walmart MC version recently upgraded, I have a $10k Sams Club MC version - wife takes cash, I don't, her statements tend to run higher balances.
