Stingy with CLI

Hey guys, just wanted to know which banks has rarely or never gave you a CLI. For me, I got my BoA card for 6 years and I remember my SL was $1K, and I did a CL once in my life cause I heard that it helps with the scores, it went to $2K and ever since then I never checked it but now have $4K.

I noticed that US Bank has been giving me a lot of CLI and also Discover too.

Chase, not so much but they do give really high limits to start off with and Amex as well, where you can combine and whatnot.

So far, for me Citi has gave me no love for a year of use on the Simplicity. I've never really liked Citi anyways lol. But, whatever I'ma just keep the card. Maybe, one day I could use the Citi events stuff they have.

Re: Stingy with CLI

The lender people on this forum go on the most about being stingy is definitely Capital One.

I personally would have to say that SSFCU is the stingiest one I have. They never auto CLI and it’s an HP for a requested one. My card has been $5K since I got in 3/2018 and will stay there.

Capital One has been good to me, Disco has been good to me, NFCU has been good to me, BBVA and DCU it’s too early to tell, Synchrony has been good to me. And even AMEX has already given me a 3X CLI and I got the card last week.

In my experience with creditors I have a few that come to mind, of course others have had much success, me not so muchSmiley Indifferent

AMEX - had 2 cards over a year, zilch, zip, nada

Citi- I have the simplicity card I have gotten one modest increase and the card has hit the one year mark

Discover - I do get increases but 300 is the "norm"

Probably got it when your profile was weaker back then. Almost like a bucket card. Its stuck from the old days.

Exactly. I know others have not thought Amex buckets, but I certainly proof they do. I really felt these cards would never grow, hence I decided to close and move on.

Re: Stingy with CLI

Just applied for DCU membership for a future auto-loan. I'm going to send 1k to the savings account and let it sit for about 6 months before applying for an Auto Loan.

I'm curious if DCU will do 1 HP for Auto Loan and CC and who they pull.

Marinating funds for an auto or any loan for that matter doesn't make much difference other than for a mortgage which requires seasoned funds to be able to use them w/o questions being asked.

IIRC they use EQ

Thank you! I was more trying to build a relationship with them while I garden for another 6 months and save up for a good downpayment.

Re: Stingy with CLI

BoA is the most stingiest to me. Can't even get it out of triple digits for some reason..

Amex has been the most generous, most recent increase 5 months ago and 28 days. Waiting for 6 month mark to request another.

Discover is semi-lenient.

Cap One has its moments of generosity

BOA for me has a top slot tied with other cards at 65K... they were a pain to time out until they went SP 5/2018 but, generally worth the HP when it was that way.  Every 91 days works for not getting an auto denial out of them if you're under ~50% of your income for a CL.
