I applied for an Amazon Store Card and received it in the mail today. Went online to set up my account only to find out they closed it yesterday? What a waste of time. Anyone have experience with this or have any advice. All they told me is I would receive a letter in the mail within 7 days explaining why.
Sorry to hear that. I am sure somebody has that experience before and would tell you. I think I read it somewhere here before but it has been long time. I am hoping somebody could explain that to you. Did you try to call them?
We can all just make assumptions here until we all see what's in the letter that caused such an AA.
But knowing Sync's reputation, most likely an ID or security issues that triggered their fraud algorithm. Did you just recently move?
I did they say it was due to inactivity and my credit report. I do have baddies on my report but everything has been paid and no collections left. I get all that, but why approve me and then close the account before the card even hit my mailbox. Seems so strange to me. They said it was canceld yesterday, it arrived in the mail today. Now I will have a brand new account with not even 1 month of activity sitting as closed on my report. I think that will ding me more than anything.
Sorry to hear that. When they said inactivity are they saying you are not spending much on your other credit accounts? Sometimes I think there is a disadvantage of PIF which is showing no balance meaning other creditors do not know if there is an activity.
Haven't moved at all and yes we do typically PIF or carry over very low balances on rotating cards and then pay off the next month. That could be it. Or it could be past credit history. My scores are ok now with no open collections, but there is some ugly stuff still on there from the past. It could be a few things so I guess we will have to wait for the letter. I am just baffled by the fact that they would even waste the time to approve, mail cards, go the whole nine yards just to close the account before it even hit the mailbox.
I wonder how much of a ding I will take now with the closed account since they already reported a new account on my CR.
I'm sorry that happened OP.

Sorry for your trouble. I had something similar with Chase back in 2018. they closed the card a few weeks after receiving and using it which was right before I planned to transfer half/most of its credit limit and then close the card.
You have to go by what is in the letter and then call. At such a point you may not even have the real reason in which case ask to speak to a supervisor or underwriting and be prepared for a deep dive into you past financial with any current of FI you were a member of any of course info contained on the 3 CB as well as info that may have fallen off/ been removed over the last several years.
At the end of the day, if this is not just a I.D. verification scenario, you are looking for your/their strongest impacted reason for the denial and you will have to give them information to overturn it.
GL2U!

" I did they say it was due to inactivity and my credit report. I do have baddies on my report but everything has been paid and no collections left. "
somehow my message was deleted but the gist of it was:
1. comb your reports and prepare for a phone call with them, you already have the HP and new account reporting in addition to what your are referencing in the above quote body of text.
2. Move on and prepare your reports as best as you can with even the slightest changes to make it Purrtier for other FI during you r future apps.
p.s. I did both #'s 1 and 2 in my past. Again, good luck and hold frustrations and anxieties until you have that letter in you hands!
Synchrony runs an algorthym to identify risk.
It's mysterious and they won't overturn it.
They closed all of my accounts - no lates 4.5 years on anything, never over limit, large payments....
No good explanation it's their algorrthym and you might be another victim of it.
Now if I apply for Sync it's an auto decline no hard pull and vague reasoning.
I can live without them but like their generous credit lines, their Car Credit and Care Credit.
But I guess I don't need them when I have cards at my credit union under 9% interest.
