Okay, now you have lost me. The OP is already attempting to apply for the Amazon Store card; if they have Prime it will automatically earn the 5% Amazon purchases there is not another card so to speak. I had assumed when you suggested another Amazon card you were talking about the Chase Amazon Prime cards. Only other ones I am aware of is the two business versions AMEX offers. The two Amazon cards Chase provides are the regular Amazon and Amazon Prime depending on membership. Again, both not viable as long as the BK is on their reports

Yes, there are multiple cards. Smiley Happy

I have the Amazon Prime Store Card; it earns 5% cash back on all purchases; you must be a Prime member to qualify for it. Then there's the Amazon Store Card, the Chase Amazon Visa card, and a secured Amazon store card. I think that's all of them!

Yes, I know. There are "multiple" cards but not really since it's tied to your membership. The three main cards (not counting the secure version) are the Amazon Store card, Chase Amazon, and AMEX Amazon Business. All three have the normal Amazon version and the Prime versions which is dependent to having membership. With Prime the person gets the "upgrade" for 5% back with Amazon purchases, if downgraded/non-renewed then it gets "downgraded" to the regular verison which earns 3%

There is no Amazon Prime Store card because it's all the same card. I just missed the fact you think it's a separate app when it is not, that was the confusion on my end 🤷‍♂️

Well, according to Amazon: "Amazon.com Store Cardholders who join Prime will receive the Amazon Prime Store Card.

Amazon Prime Store Card holders can earn 5% back on their Amazon.com purchases. Plus, Amazon Prime Store cardholders can access exclusive offers on select items! If you cancel your Prime membership at any point, you will remain an Amazon.com Store Cardholder and can still access promotional financing offers."

Please see the first card in my sig for a pic of the Amazon Prime Store Card. Smiley Happy

Re: Synchrony Amazon Store Card - Invalid Social?

@SoCalGardener, you implied in the first post you responded to in this thread that the OP should apply for the Amazon Prime Store card when the app is the SAME regardless, the version you get is just dependent if you have Prime or not tied to your Amazon account. The OP was already applying for the card you told them to apply for like it was a new thing for them to check . To confuse the OP by saying maybe they should app for the same card they're already applying for creates confusion such as mine assuming you meant the Chase Amazon cards. Again, that was my mistake but don't mistake I don't know what is being talked about here

It's been years since I applied for my Amazon card--and I THOUGHT it involved a separate app, since it's a distinctly separate CARD. Excuse me for thinking I was giving the OP a heads-up, all around, i.e., in terms of having Prime since they're a heavy Amazon shopper and in terms of getting the Prime card since they're applying anyway.

I was in the process of applying for an Amazon store card with the holidays coming up and me being an avid Amazon shopper, it made sense to. But, I received this when I went to put in my social. Has this ever appeared for anyone else? If so, what did you do? It's not letting me move on even though I know my social is correct.

I don't have anything to add to what others have suggested, but I did want to point something out before you apply. Since you're a fellow avid Amazon shopper, do you have Prime? If so, you might want to apply for the Amazon Prime Store Card instead--that's what I have, and its 5% cash back is awesome!

Instead of confusing the OP or splitting hairs on what tier levels exist with Amazon (or the featured cards by 3 lenders), the focus should be in pointing them in the right direction as far as the SS# issue.  As mentioned already upthread by simplynoir, it could potentially be a glitch on the website or a data feed disconnect from wherever the source file is attempting to match the OP personal info. Could be LN, could be the CR feed, etc.

Prime or otherwise, they're not going to be able to proceed (via the method they attempted) until they can get past that screen. So, suggesting "Prime" at this point is moot until the issue is resolved.  The OP wasn't asking about Amazon tier levels.

Re: Synchrony Amazon Store Card - Invalid Social?

Hi, I am currently attempting to apply for an Amazon Prime Store Card and am having the exact same issue as the OP. I just made this acc to comment as this thread was the only thing that outlined the same error message: "Please enter a valid social security number".

I spoke with both Amazon and Synchcrony's customer service departments to no avail (the latter was a real hassle because even after finally getting in touch with a live person, they were asking for my registered account number with them, which I have been *trying* to get). I think it's most likely a bug that will hopefully get fixed in the next few days. The rep I spoke with on Synchrony's end said they had it flagged as an issue which they brought up with their supervisor. They also confirmed that no other account was using my social, which is a relief as I had kind of been expecting it to be a fraud-related issue.

I'll post here if anything changes on my end.

Re: Synchrony Amazon Store Card - Invalid Social?

Hi @Anonymous - welcome to the forums.

Thanks for sharing your experience as well. I'm wondering if it's an isolated issue with a data file that failed or something not connecting properly through their servers 🤷🏼‍♂️ Hard to say I suppose, but this sounds like the OP is not alone with this issue.

Keep us posted in the event it resolves itself for you.

Re: Synchrony Amazon Store Card - Invalid Social?

Thank you everyone for your help and imput!

I also ended up calling Sychrony and agree that it was a pain to get to someone who would also flag my note and would try to address the issue. As mentioned, more than likely it is a bug.

Re: Synchrony Amazon Store Card - Invalid Social?

I just tried as a test and got the same error being reported

How did you attempt to apply? Cellphone, computer, etc?

Maybe it's only impacting a group of people
