Re: Tempting me

My husband got one, we weren't sure of his fico. He applied using the invitation and was immediately approved. I know he has an open collection, due to fall off in March. As well as a charge off coming off this month.

I understand. their mailers can be iffy at best. But also. keep in mind. 90 plus percent of the time. They pull Eq. so that is what score you should focus on. They will approve with a charge off. If it is old enough.

Re: Tempting me

The mailers really aren't worth the paper they're written on. If you have a very low number of new accts they may approve you with an aged negative.

Re: Tempting me

I had a perfect report except for a very old Tax Lien and was repeatedly denied by Discover (like 3X).  I ended up doing a joint application just to get a $4K Discover card.  Looking back, that was a waste of time because I never use the damn thing except in the restaurant quarters.

So I guess chargeoffs and collections are OK but Tax liens are a no go with Discover.

I'm in the charge off boat. Mine are 6 years old and I still get denied. Possibly because my new cards are only 5 months old...they're so picky.
