I will be calling right when i get off work (330pm San Diego CA time) and report back.

History - Got NFL card back in 2012 with $1000 CL, Auto CLI 6 months after to $3k, then Auto CLI 6 months after that to $4050 CL.  Both auto CLIs were HPs (wihch i didnt approve for obviously), I can probably use that as a levarage to make them do a SP and APR reduction.  Now my NFL has a $500 CL because i moved the rest to my arrival plus.

Stand by...

Ok, so just got home and activated my card...called Barclay on the way home and talked to this really nice lady.  I already have the lowest APR on my cards (13.99 on NFL and 19% APR on arrival) she said she couldn't do a SP pull as the card is new.  I ask if in the future i would get auto CLI with HPs or SPs and she said "hold please, let me check for you".  She put me on hold and came back on with a guy and she said "this gentleman is going to see if he can do a SP CLI"...I was like "yes", if she already said no but got this guy on, i might have a chance.  We went thru some questions and the end result was NO because the card is new and they want to see some history with it first...ok, i tried Smiley Happy  she did say to check in 3 months for SP increase.

So it is possible to do SP CLI, just have to be at the right time.

Still happy that i just activated my arrival and discover it.

I called last week after reading this thread. I called the number on the back of the card. Spoke to a representative and asked, "I was wondering if I could have an APR reduction?" She put me on hold and I was expecting to be transferred to a "Retentions" Just under a minute she replied, "You are still currently in the 0% interest period and I would wait until this ends. Once this period ends you can call back and ask for a reduction." I said, "Thank you, do you know when this period ends? Also, what will the APR be when it does end?" She replied, "It ends on July 10th and will be at 22.99% APR." She asked, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I asked, "Is there an offer for a SP CLI?" She said, "I would wait until you call back for the APR reduction." I figured she would turn me down for both, especially the SP CLI (the main reason I called) because she was a representative and didn't transfer me to "Retentions." I suppose I will give it another shot around the middle of July and see what happens. I will be back to update in a month or so!

Update: It's been about a month since I've called, and I haven't forgotten of course. I had originally planned to call for the APR reduction and CLI on July 10th. However, I have done a little research and have seen others in the myFICO community mention an automatic CLI and/or APR reduction on the 12th statement. So, I plan to tack on a few extra days to see if I could receive the same. I know this isn't promised, but I think I should be patient in this case. The Barclay Sallie Mae is the most used in the portfolio. I have spent $5,000 on the card since I've had it, which is actually quite a bit considering I made $19,000 last year. This averages at about $400 per month, which puts it at 20% UTL per month. Heck, one month I put a $1,000 through the card or 50% UTL. So, I hope that Barclay's notices that I not only put a lot of spend on this card, but also PIF every month. This is of course considering I have had a 12 month 0% APR promotion, that hopefully they will notice that I haven't taken advantage of (if this motivates them). So, I'll wait it out a few days. If I don't hear/see anything, then I'll give them a call. So, be on the lookout for a update on or around July 10th!

I've had a bunch of calls like that with Barclay. Total waste of time. Not once have I gotten anything out of it.

Every single CLI I got from them was a 6-month auto-CLI.

They pretend to have discretion but in reality their computers are set up with some algorithms

that make it impossible for them to do anything for you.

I find it a big waste of time, and I think it does more harm than good because

they make notations about these calls, for the next "analyst" to see.

I know a lot of people on this forum are big advocates for calling Barclays... but I'm not.

Re: The BarclayCard CLI Soft Pull thread

I'm 2 for 2 so far this morning, so I decided to call on my old Barclay's Rewards MC.  The dude said HP, no way around it, no other departments to transfer for offers.  I even specifically asked the following:

"So just asking a question here, but if I were to ask to cancel my card, hypothetically, what department would you transfer me to in this immaginary conversation, which is in no way what I'm really asking?"

His response was "I can handle that for you."

This is specifically the plane jane Barclaycard Rewards MC.

When you called did you simply ask to see about getting your APR reduced?

I've had my $6700 SM since December... it is my go to card.  $1000-$5000 a month spend in 30-60 transactions each month... and PIF.  So far no auto CLI with statement #7 to cut next week.  (I've seen multiple threads where people have gotten an auto CLI on 6th/7th statement.)

At any rate, I just called the backdoor number to see if an APR reduction/SP CLI offer was available.

They dropped my APR from 22.99 to 21.99... and told me no SP CLI offer was available.  Any request would be a HP.  She said the SP CLI offers are randomly generated.

Will see what happens next week when statement #7 cuts...
