@Anonymous wrote:Was reading this thread today and decided to give Barclays a call. (I have a Arrival Platinum MC)
First try - asked CSR to transfer me to an "account specialist" as I had questions about my CL. I was politely asked what the question was - and once I said CLI request, I was told that manual requests could be made, but with HP.
Didn't want to give up. Called again, but asked for an APR reduction - this time was transferred to an account specialist. Ended up with a lowered APR, and a 1.2k CLI with soft pull; was asked to call back after a couple of months to see if my card could be upgraded to World MC.
It's really crazy how that APR trick works. I feel like it's a passcode to get to the people who can really help you and we at myFICO are the secret society that know it!
I just called and went from 15.24% to 11.24%, and 3k sp cli, so now I am at 23k :-)..
I also had a 0% for purchases for 3 monts offer, I did not take that as I pif each month.
As always, great tips from the forum.
Thank you
J
I came across this thread so I figured I would give it a shot. Got my APR reduced by 4 points, but she said there were no soft pull CLI offers found. 1 for 2 ain't bad !!
For those posting now, it might be helpful to let us know if this is your second time making the call since this thread went up. Will be interesting to see how others do after 6 months have passed.
Hi everone. I just called and the CSR said, Oh no, its always an HP. I said no thanks, what about an APR reduction ? Sir, I will have to transfer you to a specialist ;-) So the plan worked, I was transfered but I was really after the SP CLI and I didnt request an APR reduction. I PIF anyway.
It took the specialist all of 1 second to say Yes, you're eligible for an SP CLI. She asked me a few questions, income, housing etc, and Bam 1k CLI bringing me to 4k. I use the card a lot and I guess I was expecting more of a CLI but I'll take it. My 5th statement just cut yesterday. Next month i'll go for the APR reduction 5 months in and Im good with Barclays so far.

Very nice! Front line CSR's are just for screening if you are eligible they transfer you to retentions and that is where the magic can and does happen alot of time.. Might have to pull out and give them a call today since they just softed me a day or two ago.
I need to do this. SM has a pretty low APR but my Rewards is 24.99. Anyway, what's the number I'm suppose to call, the one on back of card? Thanks.
Well it worked but not prime .. Got my APR reduced from 24.99 to a cool 23.99. CL went from $2130 to $2630. Won't complain because it's better just hoping for a bit more. Have had the CC (Rewards) 17 months now, and I have neither asked or gotten a CLI up until now.
But it's progress..
I called and tried to get transferred to an analyst for a CLI. I have had my Rewards card for 7 months, and the balance has remained steady at $500. I thought I was transferred to an analyst after the guy I first spoke with transferred me when I asked for an APR reduction. The "analyst" told me she would run the request through the computer, and, if the computer said I was eligible, I would be transferred again in order to finalize the APR decrease. Turns out, I was not eligible, but I then asked for a SP CLI anyway, qnd was tols it would be a HP. So, I gave up, went online and took a HP CLI for a new line of $1500. The end goal with this card is to roll the limit over to my SM once it has been open for a min of 1 year, then close and replace with Citi DC. End goal with SM is to achieve a CL of $5k minimum. I will try for a SP CLI with my SM once it hits 6 months. Hopefully, I won't get stonewalled by CSRs next time!
So here is another soft pull cli with barclays.
I have the Apple Rewards and Rewards MC. Both opened at the very end of September, probably around 9/25 and the first charge on the card was on 9/28/15 (for both cards)
Both cards have only had one statement cut, Apple is having the second one cut on 11/11. Both cards have heavily been used. Today i called in to ask a few questions about my balances, and explained the lady that i wanted to make sure my payments will post on time to bring my balance to 0 by the statement date. And she asked me if i had any plans of using the card in the future. I assume she might have thought i want to close the account or pay it off and not use it again when i mentioned that it is important for me that the card is paid off by statement cut off date. So when she asked if i would be using the card again, i asked her if she could take a look at october spending Her reaction over the phone was " Woowww" and immediately she said i have a special on apple card, that if i spend any amount in the next 90 days, i will get 5000 bonus points. I said thanks, i will take it, and asked f there was any other "special" specials
She looked at the account and said i am eligible for a sp cli, and not only on one card but both cards. She submitted the request, and said they would review it and let me know tomorrow. I think one statement is very early on both cards for a sp cli, and a 5000 point promotion, but i believe my spending has played a big role.
Apple card has only $2000 limit. And i still had charges that had not posted yet!
Rewards card has only $1000 limit and i have about $800 from the past weekend
that has not yet posted therefore not included in the nov spending yet!
So i am assuming early soft pull cli is possible with Barclays if the cards are being used heavily.
I had some recent changes on my TU, so i will post the results of the cli here tomorrow.
