$3K to 9K instant approval.
Question... If my current 3xCLI was today on August 10 2014... My statement cuts on the 1st or 2nd each month. When can I do my second 3xcli. After what statement?? or on what day?? I figuire sometime in Feburary but is it after statment cuts in Februrary or is it a specific day in Februrary. Thanks

$3K to 9K instant approval.
- In the two months with the card I ran about $1900 through the account
- I carried a balance of $450 over into this second statement and PIF after statment cut, second statment paid off before statement cut 800. So a zero(0) balance 2nd statment
- I have a 400+ balance currently mid-statment
- Scores are were mid700's last amex SP in June (currently high700's to 800's)
- Overall UTIL on all cards was about 7%
- Income: $101K reported

I must say its impressive that everyone has gotten so much love from amex with these 3x clis. I cant seem to get them to give me anything more than the tiny 500 dollar limit they gave me last november when i was approved. I dont see what im doing wrong but guess i'll keep trying.
The only thing i have noticed with amex and their 3x cli is that if you have mortgage or something , they aren't as readily eager to give you an 3x cli
I have a question related to the 3x (mods, don't move my topic please).
I have one AMEX card with a CL of 7.5k, and another with 6k. I rarely use the 7.5k credit card. I use the 6k credit card a lot (about 10k/month), which requires making a payment mid cycle. The card with a 7.5k turns one year old on December 2014. This detail is important for option 3 below.
OBJECTIVE: I would like to get as high a CL on my 6k credit card, without any additional requirements for info, tax documents, bank statements, etc, from a credit analyst. I have a FICO of 770, 0 derrogatory marks, and not a single late payment (always pay in full, no balance). These are the options I see for meeting this objective:
1- Request a 3x CLI on my 6k credit card. This would result on this card having a 18k credit line, assuming AMEX approves me. On top of that, I could then move credit from the 7.5k card to this card. Let's assume I leave only 1.5k credit on the 7.5k card. That is 6k more on top of the 18k, for a total of 24k on my target card.
2- Request a 3x CLI on my 7.5k credit card. This would result on a 22.5k CL on that card. I could then move most of this credit line to the 6k card. For example, I would probably move 21k to the 6k card. That would result on my target CC having a CL of 27k. This is over the 25k CL treshold. I wonder, does AMEX asks for documentation if you pass the 25k treshold by moving credit from another card? Or is this reserved only for when you do a 3x that goes over 25k?
3- Once my 7.5k turns one year old, I can move 6k of this credit over to the card with 6k already. That would leave that card with a 12k CL. In 6 months time, I would ask for a 3x on the 12k CL, for a total of 36k CL! My chances of getting approved for a 3x on this card are higher, since I put a lot of charges (10k/month) on this card. Now, this 3x approval would probably not be automatic. That would put my CL at 36k, which seems pretty high. My annual income is about 80k, and I have about 110k in total credit across all cards as it is now.
Which of these 3 strategies would you guys consider to be better to meet the objectives and the constraint?
From my point of view, it seems like option #1 would be best for two reasons: I use this card a lot, and asking for a 3x CLI on this card makes sense AND the final CLI on the card would be below the 25k CL treshold. Problem is that, from all 3 options, it is the one with the lowest credit limit.
Option #3 would be best if achievable, since I would end with a CL of 36k (a dream for me), which is 12k more than with option #1. The problem with this option is that getting a 36k CL on the card would probably required AMEX CSRs eyes before approval. I want this 3x CLI to be automatic, like my first one was.
Option #2 might be a nice option too. The risk is lower than Option #3, and it yields 3k more than Option #1. The problem I see with this option is that I don't know if AMEX algorithms look at usage for approving a 3x. If they do, then my chances are pretty small, because I barely use $200/month on this card with 7.5k CL (about 2% of credit available, as it is). It doesn't justify asking for a 3x on this card.
So it seems I either go big with option #3, or I go safe with option #1.
I have 6 months before I can do another 3x, but I would like to get answers to these questions before the time comes. The sooner I plan the strategy going forward, the better. I know it is a long post, with several options. But it is a nice exercise for the ficoforums gurus, and a good learning case for us newbies. Thanks for any feedback on this issue.
Sharing my experience,
I have read about the Amex CLI on this forum and went ahead and requested one online.
I initially had a CL of $10K on my BCP and requested a CLI of $25K (61 days), was approved instantly. Excited!!
Had it not been for myFICO i would have never known that CLI requests can be placed after 60 days of account opening and every 180 days there after.
EQ FICO CS at the time of CC approval - 715 & CLI approval - 735.
Thanks

I would go with Option 1 as the overall limit would not exceed $34,500--which could result in an FR.
Do AU accounts count towards the $34,500 treshold? I have an authorized user card in my parents name, with a big credit limit. This card would definitely put me over the $34,500 limit (assuming I would be able to do a 3x on my 6k line).
