You have to wait 90 days. And it's not a guarantee. Just like a Pre approval. Doesn't guarantee approval. The only thing that is set in stone is 90 day wait between denials and 6 months between approvals. Unless there's an emergency or something

Nothing has changed from whats in the guide except that yu no longer have to wait 61 days to try for a CLI.  Approvals were never guarnanteed before or now.  There is this fase impression that Amex CLIs are automatic wheny oure eligible  They are not.  Many people are denied withAmex just the same as other lenders.

Try again in 90 days.

It's been about 6 months since I tried to go from $9k to $18k. Tried again a few hours ago to $15k and got the 7-10 day message. Looks like that's another denial. It'd be nice if it was just an outright rejection or counter instead of making you wait a week or more to find out.

I have amex blue with an 18k limit. I decided to apply for Delta gold for the bonus miles and the fact that I was about to purchase 3 airline tickets. I pulled the trigger and got a "temporary" credit limit of 2k to purchase the tickets. So I called to find out if that was my actual credit limit and was told it was. Not sure why my cl is so low on this card. She said once I receive my card I can ask for a cli. I believe I will. I will pay the card off before the statement cuts and get the 30k skymiles but I hate taking that hit on my CR for 2k! Done venting

The same thing happened to me. I contacted support and asked them why the credit limit was so low. According to them I can request a CLI immediately after I receive the card. Not sure whether I'll do that or wait the 61 days. They said I can call in as well.

Just got the denial letter from AMEX and it said:

The amount of cash including travelers cheques recently requested using your AMEX card----- " I requested 3x's the limit"

The length of time you have been a customer with AMEX is too short----- "I waited 64 days from the time the account was open"

AmEx hates me... they will not give me a CLI for anything lol

I mean... my Gamestop card has a higher CL than my AmEx... that's a darn shame. Lol

Got the denial letter for my 3X cli on activation today, only stated "account not eligible because time with amex too short" - I'm assuming this means still have to wait 90 days and give it another shot?

I was planning on giving my amex card a large amount of spend (over it's $1000 limit each month) and paying it off before statement close... is this a bad thing in amex's eyes?
