Did you charge the AMEX when you first received it?
I started using my card right a at and I use it as my everyday card. The credit reporting department said hat the start reporting after 2 statements which they did. Chase and month other banks report after the first statement, however my first billing cycle with chase was only 2 weeks.
If my CL with my AMEX BCED is $5k and my balance on the card is $4,500 should I wait to ask for a CLI (I just want a higher CLI to help with credit ratio) I made a large purchase and paying it off slowly with the 0% apr. Just wondering what I should do. My FICO is like 670 ish.

It wouldn't hurt to ask. If they deny it then you have another six months to pay it down before asking for another.
Doesn't need to wait 6 months to try again if declined. Only need to wait 90 days. The 6 month wait is if you're approved.
Thanks for the info!
SCREAMS-n-FAINTS!!!! How did you pull that off? I mean I followed the "Guide" and well I waited 60 days after opening my account and each month paid it off and when I asked for my 3X CLI I made sure that when I asked for my CLI I made sure that my balance was $0 and I still got denied with a FICO score of 741 and there are folks with FICO scores lower than mine who have higher limits than me....I am like **bleep**.....UGH....So now I am waiting 90 days and will try again and all my other accounts are $0 balance...SIGH....

Recently got my second 3x CLI.
Congrats, I had to wait about a year (but, they gave me another card, so internally, that is considered adding to total exposure). If I had stuck with one card, would be at 10k+. But I like the SimplyCash, would not trade my journey for anything (it's not a race, no big winners here ).

I would wait 6 months. They told me they were tight on the business card because under a year. But, it's my only business account. So I went for cli on personal card, got it, and moved some to business card.
What is your current limit? Is it your only amex? Did you log out, and request lower? And more importantly, what are the reasons for denial? In my case, it was income. They did not like the split on business vs personal income, and I was only trying on the business card. Chase and other banks were treating me quite well, but I combined personal and business income for those apps. Consequently, I switched to asking on personal with total income available, but still shorted the income.
Your scores and other limits matter, very much with amex. When you get close to 750, they like it much better. Lower, YMMV. If you have other large limit cards, and over 2x times annual income, it will be hard to get the cli. Consider splitting limits into other cards, closing what you do not use, etc.
No need to wait 6 months to try again. If he tries in 90 days he might be approved and even if denied he could try again in another 90 days which puts him at the 6 month mark.
