A thousand apologies if this has already been asked/answered...I can't seem to find it.
What happens if you request a CLI and AMEX counters and you decline their counter? Does this reset a clock? If so, which one?
Got denied this morning on my 61st day.
I got the BCP card with a 630 credit score, with an initial $1,000 credit line. I put about $2500 through it in the first 60 days, and as of the CLI request, card has a $0 balance. I asked for a $2,000 increase, to bring total line to $3,000 and they said no.
Said credit score was too low, and something else that I forget. I thought with how much money I put through it, and with how much I paid off, I would get the CLI no problem. Apparently not. I did ask for it to be reconsidered, and they said they would have an answer in 48 hours. I know that answer will also be a no, but i figured it was worth a shot.
So, I believe I have to wait another 90 days now?
I can't seem to get CLI's on any of my cards. Disappointing, but nothing I can do.

Not sure why anyone would decline a counter offer but if you did, it would be recorded as a denial and you would have to wait 90 days to try again.

Sorry for your denial. Yes you need to wait the 90 days to try again. It's not that unusual to be denied on your first attempt. Keep using the card and do what you can to improve your EX score and the increases will come in time.
Received my Delta Skymiles Amex today and called to activate so I could ask for a CLI. My current EX Score is around 663 and my TU is 700 on the nose. I have a lot of new credit blended with a couple of closed in good standing cards that will be on my report for a few more years. I have one baddie which is a paid charge off from BofA and the only reporting difference is that TU does not list the 30, 60, 90, 120 etc lates that lead up to the CO and hence the higher TU score.
Anyway, I'm sure I squeezed in at the lower part of the approval scale for this card and is reflected in the initial $1k limit. I asked for $3k on the phone and they said they'd sent me an email. 60-seconds later received and email with a phone # to call. When I called, the nice gentleman told me "I regret to inform you that your CLI request as not approved because your account is too new. Please request again after 60 days". No worries, I will! I knew in advance from reading this thread that it would not hurt to ask.
Interestingly enough, when I set up and logged in to my online account it said "Member since 1985". HOLY COW, they remembered. My very first credit card was a green card and I was in college. My guess is that I left a balance on the table with them many many years ago but they obviously have forgiven me. I asked if my card should say 1985 but he said no it will say the year that I opened that specific card account which in this case is 2016. Is that accurate?
Anyway, for others that are interested in people like me that are slowly rebuilding and following the advice on this forum, I thought I'd share my recent experience with becoming a new Amex customer.....again.

If you want, they will change the card to say 'Member since 1985' but it's just cosmetic. Amex does not backdate on credit reports any longer so it will report as opened in 3/16.

Thanks for the reply, Irish. I requested an additional 6K on my Delta Amex and they countered with only 400. I declined because I thought worse case scenario I'd have to wait 90 days. But if I had accepted I'd have to wait 6 months.
Funny thing is, though: I'm not sure the 90 day waiting period is necessarily being enforced. I was denied less than 30 days ago and thought I'd try again just for the heck of it. And it went through. Hmmmm.

Hmm, $400 is the lowest counter offer that I have ever heard of from them. Pretty pathetic. What was the denial reason for the first time? Was it because you didn't wait 61 days?

IIRC it was sufficient CL based on other outstanding debt obligations
