Awesome post!!!
So I recently got Amex BCE, $10K, got the card in the mail yesterday. So of course would love to get the 3x cli. I was wondering how I go about this? Do I just simply run as much as possible, basically use it for everything, now? And should I let it report a balance, how much, and then pay it off before the due date, or pay it down to $0 before the statement cuts?
What's the best way to go about this?
Thanks,
Great Thanks!!
Just a little confused on tthe PIF part, sorry. Do you mean that I should let it report everything that I'm running through it, and then just PIF before the due date. Or pay it before the statement cuts so it reports at 0. Just want to be sure.
Well...I guess there is still something about my profile that Amex just doesn't like. Applied for 3xcli on my 61 day old BCP in which my SL was $10K and immediately recieved the 7-10 message argh!!..Requested full amount. Called Amex and the first rep sited reason of denial was " I requested to much credit" thinking to myself that explanation is just plain dumb! So I then called back and got a different rep to read the decision and it stated " Too short history with Amex" typical loan balances to high, to many recent accounts, to many accounts with balances, song and dance. Guess their just a strange bird to figure out. My thinking was with a higher approval I stood a better chance at 3xcli but, it didn't play out that way. Will give it another try in 90 days. Just some back history I was approved fgor a BCE around a year ago with a "squeaker" limit of $1k and made as request on that card after 61 days and was denied as well. Applied 90 days later approved but for only an additional $1k bringing that card to $2k. Guess a year doesn't make a difference.
Day 61, made sure to do PIF before billing period closed a few days ago. Immedaite onliine response from 1,400 to 4,200. Thanks for all the advice!

I'd let it report as little as possible. $0 reported verses a single-digit utilization percentage are equally appealing, IMO. For the most part I've reported $0 with Amex every cycle except for the rare few times a charge or two snuck in right before they reported.
Ok with my info from my last post below I got my 2nd CLI to $18,000. I was going to wait it out since I have cards posting small balances and my BCP just got $400 charged on it a week ago and I didn't pay it off yet, but I said screw it and took the chance thinking i'd get denied and i'll just ask for another one in 3 months. Heart was pumping and saw the congrats info with the increase and started smiling ear to ear. Can't believe I started out with $2000 just 10 months ago on this card and have a limit this high.

1 120 day late that's 6.2 years old
Total utilization is 5% with one card that's in the 30's% which I plan to switch over to 0% APR card so I can have a much lower single card uti.
My AAOA is 2.3 years and oldest account is 14 years old.
My income is $38,000
My total credit is $39,400 between 8 cards and highest card with $11,000 which is my Cap One Venture card.
Question for ones in the know specifically Gardener76, If your denied a credit line increase on a specific card can you then make a request on your other cards? Or is a denial same as an approval 1 request per account within a 90 day time frame?
