Just received my Amex 61 cli request denial letter and it states: Reason(s) for our decision
Your requested American Express credit limits are too high.
Our scoring of of your credit and other relevant information (see below)
Your FICO score
The length of time you have been a customer with American Express is too short
Some please enlighten me on this...

I would guess you requested more than 3X and that you don't have enough history with them to warrant what you were asking for.
What cards do you have with AMEX and how long have you had them?
I was approved for BCE (April 2016) $1k SL...requested 3XCLI on day 62 and was denied....waited 90 days and requested again and was countered with $2k instead.
Appied and was approved for BCP & PRG (February 2017) $10k SL on BCP requested 3XCLI day 61 denied... no counteroffer even after decreasing my requests in $5k intervals down to $15k...Was also a AU on Simply Cash Business through a former employer from 2013-2016.

AU business doesn't count. When you were asking for 30k, did it come back with an IV request?
Also, the day 61 thing is not a guarantee, that's just something they do sometimes, for some people, not everyone.
No IV request..Just straight 7-10 message seems to be a pattern with me for some reason..figured with a better profile this time around and higher SL on my BCP I would be a shoe in for a 3xcli request this time.

You squeaked in with that, because generally, the 7-10 message is a denial and you did it thrice and they threw 5k at you. I would suggest nursing what you have responsibly and staying under the radar for the next 6 months...
Don't poke the AMEX bear...
I should add that I didn't even recieve the 5k that is just what I requested from starting off at first asking for the full $30k then took it all the way down to $15k with all sequential request being denied. Maybe I should put more spend through as well.

Sound advice coming from yourself. AMEX likes to see heavy usage and regular payments, so if you do that, come time for your next CLI, I would think you'll be in a much more better spot then than now.
On another note, I'm quite envious that you got a 10k SL out the gate on that one card!! It took me 1 1/2 years to get up to 18k on my EveryDay card...
Lol! I should really heed to my own advice more often than I do 😃
And yes,I was very surprised at my SL on the BCP near bout fell out of my chair once I logged into my account to see it..that's why I was for certain I would get the 3xcl without a hitch. I admire your patience Gardener with Amex and always value your advice. I'm just going to now use my BCP wisely I still need to put $500 more in spend through anyways to recieve my statement bonus and PIF rinse repeat for awhile and see how that goes. Thanks again Gardener for the sound advice.
What has everyone's experience been with a second CLI after 91 days when the SL was already pretty high?
I got approved with a $10k SL and plan on doing my first 3x CLI to $30k. After that, can I request a CLI of $60k, or should I ask for something lower? $60k seems a little high, but I kinda want to try testing the boundaries...
Just some additional information on my profile:
- After my first 3x CLI, I'll have around $66k total CL across all cards. Does Amex care about this, or do they only consider at my Amex card?
- Income is between $80-90k.
- EX scores are 780+ with no baddies.
