@Anonymous wrote:What has everyone's experience been with a second CLI after 91 days when the SL was already pretty high?
I got approved with a $10k SL and plan on doing my first 3x CLI to $30k. After that, can I request a CLI of $60k, or should I ask for something lower? $60k seems a little high, but I kinda want to try testing the boundaries...
Just some additional information on my profile:
- After my first 3x CLI, I'll have around $66k total CL across all cards. Does Amex care about this, or do they only consider at my Amex card?
- Income is between $80-90k.
- EX scores are 780+ with no baddies.
After a successful CLI, you must wait 181 days before you can ask for another. It's 91 days if you've been denied a CLI.
They'll consider your entire credit profile. Asking for 60k may get you the dreaded 4506-T request... Tread carefully.

I was wondering the same as well. I have a 10K starting limit on my BCE and wasn't sure about asking for 30K at the 61 day mark. My highest CL right now is 11,500 on my PenFed Platinum and Fidelity Rewards cards. Will Amex be the first to open the doors to higher CLs or do they prefer another lender to do that first?

Yeah, I'm hoping to avoid the 4506-T request... Do they automatically request it when you request a CLI above a certain amount? Or do you know if there's an amount I can request that the system will still come back with a counter-offer for? Say I request $40k or $45k, would it come back offering $35k or just go straight to the 4506-T?

If they're gonna ask for the 4506, they'll do that without counterofferring. From what I've read, the fact that they're requesting that info is a tentative approval for that particular amout. If they come back with a 4506, just back up, and put in a slightly lower amount (1-2k) until it's an automatic approval.

If I opened my account on February 3 2017 with a starting limit of $2000, how would I go about doing this without triggering a 4506-T?
You won't run into the possibility of dealing with that for 2 CLI cycles. You can try now, as you've had the account for 2 months. They may deny you, if they do, you have to wait 91 days before your next attempt. If they approve you, then you must wait 181 days before you attempt again. If you ask for more than 3X your limit, they may either counteroffer or outright deny you.
If you get the 3X CLI on all attempts, you'll be looking at CLI #1 going from 2k to 6k and CLI #2 is 6k-18k. At that point, once you hvae the 18K, a 3X CLI will likely garner a 4506 request as that amount would be 54k with most attempts over 25-30k usually being the threshold for getting those requests.
At any rate, you're looking at a year before you'll reach the possibility of attempting that much, so ride that pony hard and make regular payments, for that's what they like to see before they throw a large credit limit at you!!
It's been a while since I've asked this question, but since the last time I asked it is probably buried many pages back I'll ask it again for sets of fresh eyes. For those of you that have brought your Amex limit up to $30k+ via SP CLIs, how much more have you been able to push your limit upward via SP CLIs every 6 months?
My last one was from $30k to $35k in February. $35.5k didn't work (IV prompt), but $35k did. My question more or less is in August when I request another CLI, will I get an IV prompt in even asking for $500 ($35.5k) since that as the line for me last time, or does amex slowly raise that line over time with a solid account with a good credit profile? If I can continue to push my limit upward $3k-$5k every 6 months with Amex without IV that would be cool, so I'd like to hear from anyone that either had success or no success with this.

Depending on your spend/payments pattern and your other credit exposure, I don't think 6 months later that it'll be any different... That being said, my OCD is screaming at the prospect of that odd CLI amount...
When I apply for AMEX CLI, does it ask for final amount of CLI i desire or the increased amount? for example, going for 2k to 6k, would I put in 4k or 6k into the form?
Also, if I go from 2k to 6k , then 6k to 18k, what's the max I can go to from 18k without triggering 4506T?
I've heard whispers of getting the 3xcli immediately after opening account instead of waiting 61 days. Has anyone had any experience with this?
