WOW. AMEX will give you a CL that high! 99k!? 😮😮
No, my 2nd CLI would have been 99K, but they wanted another income verification. I had not yet had a year at my new job, so wouldn't have had any additional income to show on my taxes. I bumped down in 10K increments until I got 60K immediate approval. My real maximum was somewhere between 60K and 70K without another IV. I honestly don't know what the heck I'd do with 60K. I mainly went for it to keep my overall credit utilization % down.

That's incredible. I feel the same way about getting a 18,000 CL in February if i get approved for CLI's on my BCP. I could never spend even 2k a month, but having it there for UTI % is great!

What was the income you provided them with via IV that resulted in the $33k approval? I assume they used the same previous IV for the increase to $60k since you did not provide further IV? Were these CLIs at roughly the 61 Day mark of your account being open and then again 181 days later or so? How was your monthly spend on the card over the course of the first 8-9 cycles during the span of the two CLIs?

@Anonymous Card holder since 2000 or so, 85K yearly income for the previous IV. Second CLI was bout 70-80 days after the first. My first card was Amex classic green card, then upgraded to Blue Classic, then added Delta Skymiles a few years later. Got the Blue Cash Preferred (this card @ 11K limit) a few years ago, maybe 2014 or 2015. The Blue Cash Preferred CLI 11K->33K was the 1st CLI. 33K->60K was 2nd. Monthly spend was our entire grocery budget and some incedental spend at roughly $1K-1.5K per month continuous.
Hope that helps
@Anonymous wrote:Just thought I would add my CLI request info here. Today is my 61st day with my Gold Delta Skymiles card and I tried for a CLI online. For some reason it said call the CLI telephone number.
I called the CLI telephone number and put in the same information I did online. It said sorry, you are denied because you recently filed for bankruptcy. Keep in mind that my BK was filed in 2012 and was discharged in 2014. I have no current bankruptcy. So, mostly out of curiosity and because I thought it would be good information for the board, I opted to speak to a CSR.
The first CSR was pretty rude. She had an English accent (which I initially found charming) but simply couldn't answer my question. The question was, "is the CLI denial based on a pending/current bankruptcy or for any bankruptcy in the credit report?" There is a distinction which I believe she could not understand or didn't care enough to understand. I asked to speak to someone who could answer that question because she told me I needed to speak to Experian. My Experian report is accurate and it does still show a 2012 filed bk with 2014 discharge. Anyhow, she rudely placed me on hold without any kind of farewell and sent me to the regular customer service line.
Ok, so I finally got someone who answered the question. Although the robot said "recently filed bankruptcy" the denial is based on any bankruptcy which is still showing on the report. I specifically asked the second line increase CSR if, all else being equal, I wanted a CLI, I would essentially have to wait until the BK falls off. He said yes.
Although I have read that AMEX may grant a CLI on its own, apparently if I want to request one, I will have to wait until 2019. That sucks, because it's difficult to buy plane tickets with $1000 credit limit. Well, I'll keep AMEX happy and keep plugging away in the garden. I'm sure the CLI will come eventually.
Why not apply for the Amex PRG. They don't give you a set credit limit, you get triple points on airpline ticket purchases and you can transfer points to Delta.
