So here is a possibly silly question. I understand the concept and that, normally, it is to be attempted initially 61 days after account creation. However, my BCE took a month to arrive. Yep. Long story. The day I was approved 8/24, I had my gold card shipped and the BCE was supposed to, but it went through a few snags esp. as I just moved.
So would the 61 day still count towards creation or when I first activate it? Because it'd be funny if I was able to try in a month even though I just received it.

It's at account opening date, so theoretically, you could try at that 61 day date. If in doubt, use the online chat feature and they'll be able to clarify the rule for you. No harm in trying, since all CLI's with AMEX are SP!!
The 61 day clock should run from the day the account was opened. The only downfall I see here in not getting the card for a month or so is that you're only showing Amex 1 month of usage compared to the usual 2 months that they see from people making 3X CLI requests at Day 61+. You may be better served waiting another cycle and putting another month of spend/payment on the card before requesting that 3X CLI. If you come up short (say you only get 2X) you've got to wait 6 months before you have another opportunity and that whole time you'll be asking yourself if you had waited another month if you would have gotten the full 3X.
I mention to mom about raising her newly open Amex Cash Back CL from 2K to 6K she went online and was given a 7-10 day notice after requesting she's about 6 -7 Months new to any kind of credit and with Amex it's only been 2-3 weeks of opening the account so should I advise her to try again as stated in the very first post? 61 Days? or does she need to wait 6 months? also she currently has CapitalOne Platnium with $500 limit she's had that account almost a year. Also she is in rebuilding stages while it's new lines of credit for her she had to wait 7+ years before applying because she got into a jam and didn't keep up with her credit which until recently I became aware of this fact when I asked her why she never had credit before and she's in her 60's. lol

She'll have to wait likely for about five months or so. If the CapOne is the only other card she has, her file is going to be thin and AMEX really doesn't like thin files.
Ok thanks!
The interesting thing is Amex seems to think of all your accounts as one. I got The BCE and asked for 3x CLI at 5 weeks and was approved. Got SPG a month later and asked for a CLI the day it came in the mail and they said I could not get an increase as I had another card with CLI in last 6 months. I got the PRG a couple weeks before the BCE so I wonder if that is reason they gave me CLI on BCE at 5 weeks. Consider them the same card for increases.

They do CLI's on one card per account per 180 days, regardless how many cards you have. Your acquisition of the PRG had no bearing on your not getting the other CLI. You now have to wait 180 days from the last CLI to ask for one on the SPG.

No you are misunderstanding me I said my CLI after 5 weeks if probably due to me getting PRG a few weeks before or maybe because I have had a corporate card since 2009. They didn't see my account as 5 weeks old.
Poor mom after I mention she needs to wait her jaw drop she still doesn't understand credit takes time.
