@ls2016 wrote:@I was approved for my 2nd Amex card (BCE) on Sept. 7th for $1000. I've had the ED card for about 8 months ($1000 limit, SL was $500). The CLI button appeared today on the BCE front page, which I'm currently using $800 out of the $1000 (to be PIF before due date). I notice that the CLI button was not on the ED card, so I hit the button on the BCE for the 3x and was approved. Limit is now $3000. Received the 3x @ Day 42. FICO 8s are currently EX: 678, TU: 672, EQ: 687. Just sharing!!!
Wow that is impressive! Congrats!
Thanks for sharing it! Very good data points! So it is possible to request CLI before 61 days
Good to know
I got my CLI at 2 weeks. But I had a corporate card for ten years. I think Amex thinks of all your cards as a single account when it comes to CLIs.
Just applied for BCE today, they counter offerd me and said no 0% intro APR and starting limit of only $500. It's because my utilization is high on Chase, Discover, and Barclay, score took a nasty hit. They pull Experian, my Experian used to be 709 but now it's mid 650s. I was thinking about declining it but I guess it's better to build the AAoA now rather than later and already took the hard pull so whatever. Hopefully I should get 1.5k at 61 days.
Next week I am coming up on 60 days with the BCE card. We started at a 2000 limit so I am asking for 6000 now. We have used it as much as possible over the past 2 months on gas and stuff at the store. I have paid it off almost every week and made sure to PIF at the end of the statement. Right now there is about a 1k balance on it from groceries, gas, and a few other small items and I am wondering if I should pay that off or at least pay it down before requesting. I am paying off at the end of the statement but I did not know if I should do it sooner or if it would matter. Thanks.
im closing my 2 cards from them by end of the month.im tired of their games.they not what they use to be years ago.
they play games...im done done done with them.

Given your good payment habits, I don't think it's going to matter. But if it were me, I'd pay the card to zero, use the card for a couple of new charges, and apply at that time.

+1 With the established usage/payment history you've already shown I don't think you'll any problems getting a CLI.
I got and Amex Everyday card in February, was approved for 1,400 limit. At 64 days asked for and recieved 3X increase to $4,200. Had planned to request another 3X at the 180 day mark. However sometime last month with no request or notice to me, they increased my limit to $12,000. Just shy of 3X. I have a FICO of 732, income of 120,000 and was using the card heavily charging upwards of 7-8k monthly on the card paying it off weekly. We use the card for business expenses as well as personal charges.
Is it common for Amex to increase your limit without asking for it?
My other question is this, how long would I wait to request another 3x increase? 180 days from the time they gave me the last increase? Or should I base that on when I recieved the card?
From what I've seen it's not normal for AMEX to give CLIs without a request so kudos for getting one from there. As far when you can ask for another the clock resets from the last time the customer initiated the request. So for instance you request your last CLI in April to 4200. Since AMEX gave you the last CLI you're still good to go to getting the 3X CLI to $36K. Now, whether they'll actually give you that is another story but I always say shoot for the moon and decide from there once they give a decision whether they counter, ask for IV, or give it to you.
That's good to know! Thank you. Yeah I was very pleasantly suprised. Do you know at what point do they usually ask for income verification documents?
