Fantastic data points, thanks for sharing!
My EX FICO8 was 710 when I applied (cold app, no prequalification offers) and got $200.
According to my own simulator I wrote, I may hit 740 by July and 790 by December 2018 assuming no new derogatories show up magically. So if they deny me 3X CLI at 61 days, I'm hopeful I'll still get a nice one in 2018.
Thanks for sharing!
Experian score was 721 when I got my AMEX Blue Cash Preferred a couple months ago. I was disappointed in my low limit of $1,400 after having gotten approved for $10,000 from Discover a couple weeks prior. 61 days was today, and my Experian is currently 724. I put about $1,500 through the card in the past 61 days and PIF for both statements. I also PIF a few days ago knowing that 61 days was coming up, and only had under $10 on the card that I'd spent since then.
I just tried for $4,200 and was approved!! Now I'm marking 6 months on the calander to try for $12,600 next time.
Just came across this site, thanks for putting this all together. Awesome stuff.
So I opened my first AMEX card in June or July this year and was given a $25K limit.
I see that this thread is suggesting a 3X request for a CLI however it appears most of these posts are inteended for people who started with a much smaller opening limit. Should I be asking for a $75K limit or will that have no chance of being approved? My income last year (2016) was around $175K. I only have one other credit card (Visa) and that has a $35K limit. I do not have any outstanding loans (I rent and recently paid off my car loan). My creditwise score is 771.
What should I request?
Thanks,
Ted
Well, i'm just the newbie here, so don't take my word for granted!
But: I would just go ahead and try to go for 75k. The way i understand it, Amex will make a counteroffer, if they think the requested limit is too high or if it would exceed the maximum available credit for the product (which i suspect will be the case here anyway). There is no such thing as "requesting too much of a CLI negatively affecting your account" as far as i know. So reaching for the stars shouldn't hurt.

If you don't mind sharing your EX credit score AMEX gives you sinc CreditWise is Vantage score model and no good. Also the spend on your card would probably help to determine your odds.
Best guess even without that additonal info is you probably will get a CLI but how much depends on how willing you are at giving them 4506T (income verification) if you want to try for the whole $75k. What some do is request what they think is safe - like in your case just to use an example $40k - and if the IV prompt comes up just hit back on the browser and lower your request by $1000 increments til you get approved.
Sorry, I'm not sure what the EX score is? If you tell me were to find it, I'll gladly share.
The spend on the card is relatively minimal - maybe $600-$1200 per month.

Hi @Anonymous, and welcome to myFICO!
EX refers to Experian.
Here's a link to a thread that lists common abbreviations used on myFICO: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/User-Guidelines-General/Common-Abbreviations/td-p/88458
