Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Thanks for the help everyone.  Just checked my FICO score on the American Express page.  It is 787.  Thoughts on what CLI I should request?

Ask for a number your income can support and if it goes to an IV page, just go back and lower the amount you asked for until it stops asking for an IV.  Easy!

Report back what you ask for and what you end up getting approved for.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

I requested $60K  (again my current limit is $25K).  It asked for income verification.  I hit the back button on my browser (Google Chrome Igcognito Mode) and lowered it to $59K, but after I submitted the $59K request I got the following error message:

Our systems are updating.
Your request for a line of credit increase cannot be processed at this time.
We apologize for the inconvenience, please try again in 24 hours.

Quick update - I was able to eventually get the errors to stop appearing.  Kept lowering the request until I was finally approved at $34K.  So went from $25K (my initial opening limit when I got the card back in June/July) to $34K today.  Thanks for your help everyone.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

There you go!  $34K is a fantastic credit limit, and Amex works great as a "prybar" for other prime lenders, so when Chase sees you have an Amex limit, they're more likely to match it themselves.

Not sure what is in store for you in 6 months when you can do another CLI request, but make sure to note the date and check in again.

Sounds good!  My understanding is that Chase does hard pulls, so I shouldn't do anything with them, correct?

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Yeah, Chase does HP always, except they do review accounts and give rare auto CLIs, too.

Best way to get bigger Chase limits is to app for their throwaway cards (AARP, Disney, etc) and combine limits with cards you want to keep.

Congrats there! Just as a heads up expect a lot of letters from AMEX coming your way but those are just related to your CLI request for retrying repeatedly. Smiley LOL

Thanks for the heads up.  That's good to know.  There's nothing else I need to do, right?  I can just toss the letters?

Correct. Wouldn't hurt to take a quick glance at them to be safe but you can toss them.
