I'll have a zero balance with them either way, but my FICO score that they'll post on the 9th will be about 30-40 points higher than the one they are currently displaying for me. So if that score factors into their decision I'm obviously waiting a week.
Sounds like they just got you for an extra pull for whatever reason. No worries. If you know your score will be 30-40 points higher in a week, just ride it out and once the new score shows up on your account and you know they have an updated SP on you, go ahead and hammer away your CLI request.

That's a Wells Fargo card. WF decides on the CLIs, so don't rely on the AMEX strategy.
I cannot for the life of me get a CLI on my BCE card . Opened 3/24/17 at 10K. Same day I was also approved for PRG. Since March, they have approved EDP (2k), given me a $35K Pay Over Time limit on my PRG and tonight approved Delta Gold Skymiles (2K). And I still have every card showing as pre-approved (chargers and revolvers) when I'm logged into my account. They also have not let me move any limits. I would have accepted the 2 2K approvals as a CLI on my BCE card, trust me. Luckily I got some great sign up bonuses on those two small revolving cards so all was not for naught*. Just wanted to add this to anyone else who gets discouraged with no CLI. AMEX may still be willing to offer you more credit, just on a different card. Besides the one HP on March 24th eveything else has been a SP.
*I was booking a flight on Delta and it gave a $200 statement credit and 20,000 miles as my offer. BCE was a $250 statement credit. PRG was for 50K MR. EDP was for 30K MR.
It's just a guess on my part, but I think the 35K POT limit might be the roadblock. That's more or less like revolving credit. It might also be a contributing factor to the low limits on your recent approvals vs. the nice limit you got on your first card.
Well, the time again has almost arrived again for me. 6 months since my last 3x. Now I’m torn between 2 cards to ask the 3XCLI on. My oldest is BCE approved in 2016 with a toy limit of $1k——>$2k only after the second attempt to get there. Now at $8k after some credit reallocations. And my most recent HH $18k. Preventual wisdom would suggest to go 3XCLI on the oldest card BCE taking it from $8k—->$24k. But the again the newer HH $18k—-> $54K would most certainly trigger the 4506-T but I could back out of it to get to try and get an approval, desicions..desicions..
Welcoming any suggestions 😉
Bruisedcredit....I’m on the blacklist so I know nothing! This question may help you if someone knows the answer. Can you reallocate some of your higher limit card to your lower limit card and then do a cli to the lower limit card? I’m guessing no...but wouldn’t that be nice!

Sorry to hear your on the blacklist. Hang in there though things will improve. Your question is quite interesting as I plan to (or at least contemplating) asking for a cli on my recently reallocated from a higher limit BCP to my BCE within the next few days guess my experience could very well answer your question.
