Hit the 3x CLI today and went 9k to 27k! Started at 1k January 2017 and have been successful in 3x CLI each time.

Nice work! No doubt this one was the best so far. Likely your next stop will be at $35k, assuming you want to avoid the IV process. If you don't care about IV, you could get crazy and shoot for another 3X CLI in 6 months... lol.
Nice work! I'm hoping to be there in Dec 2018! Went from $1-3k in Dec 2017 and hopeful of $3-9k in June and then $9-27k in Dec.
I have to say this thread as become a more of a gamers of amex's 3x. Start as x and then backout, 3x 61, 3x 91, 3x 121it's all a multiple of 3. A game for those who like the number 3.
Based on DPs I see here this amex thing has become more of a want than a need. I really wish they would just change it to once a year, sort of like 5/24 and half this credit overload frenzy would go away.
I agree and am surprised that Amex still allows such fast growth. I would think they would have dialed it back to maybe 2X at this point. 3X is kind of crazy when you consider that a $3500 SL can grow to $31,500 in 8 months from account opening. I don't see much justification that a person worthy of just a $3500 credit limit would be worthly of $31,500 about 8 months later, all other things being equal (aside from the 8 months of time elapsed).

I’m sure the VAST majority of Amex card holders know nothing of the little 3X, and how long to wait, etc...
otherwise I feel like they could really be risking themselves, especially the effy customers..
I've got no problems being the beneficiary of Amex's credit limit laxity! It not only gives me the freedom to make a large purchase if needed but it also pads my utilization like a mf'er. All hail the 3X CLI game!
And Gregory is correct. Outside of this forum how many Amex customers know such a thing exists?? So the percentage of their customers doing this is no doubt miniscule.
I would say outside the forums nobody knows. Unless they are told. AMEX is also not giving everyone 3x all the time. I had to wait 6 months for my first one. I have clean credit, it's just limited and not very long, yet. I trust their judgment.
Just chiming in here with my own 2¢, I wonder how many people would consistently be able to carry a high balance on a high-limit Amex revolver without Amex taking AA.
Part of the whole 'Amex doesn't like balances' trope is due to them (reportedly) being quicker to pull back credit lines than some other issuers when those lines are utilized for extended periods. Like many things credit this is likely YMMV, of course.
In my opinion, in most cases it's harmless to have a larger-than-necessary Amex revolving credit line, and usually no big deal to utilize it heavily for a month or so, but I would be especially hesitant to revolve a large balance with them for an extended period of time unless there was no other option.
Again, just my own 2¢.
I am one of those people who haven't been able to get 3X CLI and I'm coming up on one year of being a cardmember. So it's not like they are handing out 3X to everyone who asks every time they are eligible. Your history with them and credit portfolio has to support it.
They also hadn't been been letting me move my CLs around, but they just recently started letting me do that. So I am hopefully once my 90 days from being declined is up, I will have better odds at a CLI.
