My question is if I want to do the 3x request, would it be 3x the $500 or 3x the $1000?
Also, would it be a SP or HP for their CLI?
A 3X CLI refers to asking for a limit that's 3X greater than your current limit; you'd be asking for $3000. There are people on this forum that have done multiple 3X CLIs: $1k --> $3k --> $9k --> $27k, for example.
It would be a SP CLI, not a HP.
@Anonymous wrote:I searched this thread some and am unsure of how it would apply to my situation so here's what I'm working with and a couple questions:
I opened an AMEX Everyday card on 05/15/18 and was only given a $500 SL. PIF every month and on 11/28/18, AMEX gave me an automatic CLI of $500 so my limit is now $1000.
My question is if I want to do the 3x request, would it be 3x the $500 or 3x the $1000?

Sounds like you were in Amex's version of "credit steps." Did you get an email from Amex outlining terms you would have to meet to get a credit limit increase after 6 months of having the card?
The 3X increase would be on the $1,000 so you can now request an increase to $3,000. The auto-CLI granted by Amex does not require you to wait 180 days for another CLI so you can ask immediately.
Thank you!

I never got an email from Amex outlining terms you would have to meet to get a credit limit increase after 6 months of having the card. Just got an email one day saying I’d been increased so it was a pleasant surprise.
I just tried to submit to increase to $3000 and got this response immediately:
Your request for a line of credit increase has been submitted. You will receive a written response within 7-10 days.
Does this mean I've been denied and/or they're going to do a HP?

Congrats on the $18k limit*^^^^^^^^^
several months ago i transferred about $13k limit from my everyday card to my amex business Amazon card so it now sits at $30k. I'm going to hit the love button after the 11th but I'm wondering if being at $30k limit will prevent me from going higher.
AmX may ask for an IRS 4506-T (Request for Transcript of Tax Return). If this happens, you can always back out and ask for a lesser amount until the amount you want is approved without the request.
Then again, you might squeak through and get an approval without the 4506-T request.

Yes, based on my own personal experience and reading other threads on here, that likely means a denial. If it is, don't be discouraged. I was denied the first time and approved the second time I tried.

That response means that Amex feels that what they gave you recently is sufficient so they denied your request but there's usually no hard pull. Most likely you'll have to wait 180 days from the date of this denial to see any success.
91 days after a CLI denial.
181 days after a CLI approval.
