I haven't tried a 3x ever, but I made a $5k request for one of my revolvers not long ago, and instantly approved.
With your Gold over a year, and several months with a revolver that started at $5k ( a quite good starting limit ) I would guess you have a good shot at a 3x.
AMEX has been creatively adding benefits to keep cardholders, and a CLI sounds to me like an easy perk they can provide.
The caveat is that if anything risky appears on their radar, they may take back the CLI. That's only a business decision and should not dissuade you from trying.
AmEx CLI can be requested after 61 days and are a SP. If approved, you have to wait 180 days to request again. If denied, you have to wait 90 days until requesting again.
I attempted the 3x CLI request and was denied and have continued to be denied each time. It's always some various reason. Too many INQ's, new accounts, etc. My most recent denial about a week ago was "credit score" which was 721 F8. They just don't like me. *shrug*
OP I say go big or go home. Take that $5k SL up to $15k and don't look back. If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly.

Best advice ever @Anonymous!! I tend to sell myself short, so I decided to take your advice and go for it and I GOT IT!!! I almost chickened out too 😆
$5k > $15k (now my highest limit)

Congrats, and it really is the best advice. If they don't want it to be quite that high they will counter. If they don't like your profile, they'll deny outright.
That said, I didn't follow it for myself recently because I wanted an even number for my limit, was at $9100, asked for $20k and got it. Was tempted to go for the full 3X but didn't want a weird number and want to feel good in 180 days when I ask again and hopefully get approved lol.

Awesome! Very glad you went for it and that you got the full amount. I've seen quite a few 3X CLIs lately get countered with 2X CLIs (which is still very good) so it's nice to see continued 3X CLI success!
Not to put the cart before the horse or anything, but for your next CLI you won't be able to go for $45k. Amex has a threshold at $35k that most run into that involves a POI prompt. My suggestion for your next CLI attempt in 6 months would be to go to $30k, then try walking your limit up by $5k every 6 months from there going foward. That's what I did to take my limit up to nearly $60k without having ever to provide POI.
Excited to see what AMEX does at the end of January when I go for my 3X increase.

Is $35k the definitive answer? I've read between $25-35k at different points throughout the thread before the 4506T request. Guess it really doesn't matter which one it is if you can still hit the back button and try again when it comes up!

I believe that it is from what I've read on here and from personal experience. Personal experience wise I went from $10k ---> $30k and then tried every value from $50k down in $1k increments, receiving IV prompts every step of the way until I got to $35k which was approved. The majority of the time you see denials in the $25k-$35k range it's from a $10k+ limit, so the constraint could be anything profile-related. $35k seems to be the hard threshold regardless of profile.
I got a CLI a month ago. At what point can you go for a second card? Do you have to wait until it pops in your pre approval window?
