@Anonymous @Congratulations to you! Wow you've got more then 3x CLI! How old is this account?
@Ivylicious1908 Congratulations on your CLI!
My new BCE is getting closer to the second statement and I am thinking to hit CLI button. SL now is $4000 and current balance $2600. Is it recommended to pay it full down to $0 before the hit? Or to leave some small balance? I can pay all just thinking what if the system will deny for the reason of not enough usage of your existing limit or something like this if it's $0 balance on the card?
The DW is coming up on her 181st day. She has a $1k Delta that is over a year old that I am thinking to close. Perhaps move whatever they allow to a $2k BCP card that is at 30 days or so. It seems there are a couple options.
Move whatever limit is possible from the Delta Gold to the BCP but would that push out a CLI date beyond the 61st day on the BCP? And, would the total after the move be considered for 3x? Growing the BCP would be nice.
Just go for yet another Business CLI? That may yield a big limit on her Biz Blue Plus card which sits at $7k
(she has a Business Delta Gold at $20k now so that will be the ongoing Delta card)
Thoughts?
@rudolphreindeer I got CLI to 20k with 8k starting x3 = 24k so I got less then 3x but I was ok with it. The account was opened in Oct. to anwser your question. Its my first personal account with AMEX but I have had a corp green card since 05.
@rudolphreindeer I leave a little balance every other month. Then PIF in between that.
@Anonymous Oh right, I for some reason miscalculated 8x3, but $20k is still 👍 thanks!
To add to my question- I also have current balance on my Gold card that exceeds my POT limit. I got the impression from here that Amex likes when you PIF, and I would PIF Gold anyway to due date, but I guess I should do it earlier, to BCE CLI date, to show Amex that I am not a risky borrower... I just want to confirm that $0 balances on both cards would be the best approach to CLI date?

I had a 0$ PIF ballance when I did my request if that helps.
For those with the Cash Magnet, are you seeing the 3x growth because I have tried like hell to get mine to grow and it won't budge. I do wonder if they are still kinda mad at me for burning them in BK back in 2012. Glad to have the card but it is strange that it isn't growing like my partner who has a BCE and got it at the same time as me and her's went 3x right when it was supposed to.
I have Cash Magnet card and have grown with it very successfully. I got it in 5/19 as my second AmEx card, after my BCE that I opened in 5/17. Ironically I opened the Cash Magnet as an experiment after failing to be able to grow the BCE at all from the $500 SL after 2 years, declined every time. After around my 6th CLI decline on the BCE, I immediately applied for the CM and was instantly approved for $5k SL. I don't remember the exact timeline from here, but I was approved for 3X CLI to $15k after 6mos-1yr(while carrying ~$1400 balance). Then around the 6 month mark after that I tried for $45k, got 7-10 day message, tried again for $40k with same result, went down from there in $5k increments, and was instantly approved for $25k(carrying $0 balance). That was almost 6 months ago, so I'll be trying the same tact again soon to get to at least $35k I hope.

What have the letters stated with the declined requests? When I had the Cash Magnet, it grew without issues. So, it has nothing to do with the product itself.
That said, it's been reported that AmEx has been known to cite the usual "previous relationship" boiler plate language on declined CLI requests if you burned them in the past.
I eventually closed the BCE that refused to grow. Boggled my mind that they wouldn't grow a $500 card AT ALL, but no problem throwing $20k on top of a $5k card. I posted on here a while back about that experience, but no magical answers came of it. I keep getting offers to upgrade my CM to a BCP, but I've been so successful with the CM that I'm afraid to change it. That and the annual fee that comes along with the BCP...
