I just got an auto increase from them from 1k to 3k a couple weeks ago, but now wanna see if I could get this up to about 9k (I'd settle with a generous counter offer too).
The one thing making me nervous is that I've heard sometimes AmEx pulling an older FICO score when doing these CLI requests rather than the most up to date one. If they pull the 658, I'm sure It'll be a flat denial, but at 680, I feel like I have a decent chance here.
Well, I pulled the trigger and got the dreaded '7-10 day' denial message.
This really sucks, and quite frankly, really irritates me. I'm very curious to see what FICO score they used in the letter I get. If it's the 658, I'm going to flip out. I'm considering finally responding to those Discover mailers I keep getting and going ahead and getting that card and stop use on this one. It's clear that I'll never be really in with AmEx, they just don't like me very much, even though I've been a heavy user (despite the tiny limit) and always PIF.

That increase I got was an auto increase. Supposedly I can still apply for my own increase after an auto increase and I was past the 90 days from my last denied CLI request.
Correct, you were still eligible to apply for the credit increase because the last one was an auto CLI. Nonetheless the fact that they gave you the CLI probably affects the overall amount of credit that they are willing to extend to you at this time. Far too many people think these 3X CLIs are almost guaranteed when they are not. When I got my first Amex card in 2015, they gave me a starting limit of $1K and while I was granted a CLI to $3K when I first tried, I was denied six months later even though my Experian score was 810. The reason was due to not having the card long enough at that time. Later on when I tried again, I raised it $9K and since then Amex has given me $44K on two other revolvers. You just need to be patient and the increases will come in time. Discover also denies CLI requests despite what it seems like at times on these forums.

Good info to know.
All these rules!!!! What do non-myficoers do? Lol
Keep their cards, only wait for auto increases or by chance some may ask for an increase.
Only here it's 3x on steroids.
Apparently I'm still in the hole with them. Got my card (hhonors) in Jan 2016 for 1K. No 3x, no nothing. It's now been over a year and just got another 7-10 day message.
They approved me at 624. Their last score report shows 674. My util is way better than it was, zero lates in over two years, and still no movement. No auto-CLI, no manual CLI. It'd be nice if it was a bit more transparent just so I could have a good sense of when to expect movement.
No worries. I'll try again in a few months, I expect to be close to or over 700 by then.
Need some advice. Applied for the 3x cli on day 59, got the 7-10 day message. Got an email from amex saying I could call for the CLI decision. But when I call the number it says there has been no request within the last 90 days for a CLI? Not sure what is going on. Anyways today is day 61 so I'm wondering if I should ask for the 3x cli again or wait to see what the letter says in the mail.
Date account opened 1/5/17.
Starting limit 10k. 772 EX
PIF before statement cut.
3500 charged through the card in last 61 days.
Amex last SP 2/28/17 score 779 EX.
