Ok so the 61 day 3x CLI is it from the day the account was opened or the day you got your first statement? Also if you have a 40-50% utilization currently from a larger purchase will that affect getting the CLI?

Thanks

I dont think it will effect your chances depending on your CR. YMMV.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Just an update!  Today was Day 61 and I just increased my CL from $4,000 to $12,000. FICO today is 717, and I had a total balance of $2500 as of today.  I am very happy!

So what is next?  Wait 6 months and then ask for .... how much?

Thanks for all the great info here!  I really want to keep bumping up my score with a goal of 750-800.  Any suggestions on how best to do that would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Isn't it called 3X CLI for a reason? Though you can always ask for anything you want, but it doesn't mean you will recieve.

Congratulations!

What is your income? Many people are getting the IV at 35K and up, Maybe ask for 35, and back your way down?

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Haha, I read the Amex 3X CLI again and yes, I rather wait until later. Hopefully the credit bureaus done fixing my credit reports by then. So far TU is the only adding back my Citibank account to the report but it was behind 3 months. Not sure about the other two since nothing was done since Dec 2017 after letters and phone calls. Wished I follow the 3X CLI guideline back then. Thank you

Thank you for the post. I guess I have to wait then. What if I try to CLI before 61 days then and got rejected but I could still wait until the original 180 days right? Thank you.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

I find the $35k point for IV really only seems to happen if you're significantly below $30k and try to bump up above $35k.

Are there any people out there that were at $30k and then asked for $35k and got prompted with IV?  I've gone from $30k--> $35k --> $40k --> $45k.  Only $5k at a time, but still nice, steady growth for no IV.

Did you request more than 5K?

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Yes and when prompted with IV lingo I just kept backing down my request amount until I received my instant approval.  My data points are documented in this thread in several places.

From what I've seen, a lot of people make "$35k" out to be some sort of big deal threshold with Amex.  I do feel that the 3X CLI thing is gone before you get to that point, but there isn't some magical barrier at $35k.  It's just that once you get to $30k with Amex, they feel your limit is really high already, so the increases they allow you to get at that point are smaller.  Sure, you can go ahead with IV and shoot for the stars with them of course like many other lenders out there... but if you're content with smaller/steady increases ($5k/6mo, for example) you can continue to grow your card just fine without IV.

2018 - 3x AMEX CLI should I?

Hey guys

I got approved for 2 AMEXs with $15K limits each.

Amex SPG - 15K

Amex Delta - 15K

I have a charge card too but that doesn't really count right, so this puts my AMEX limits at ~$30K already

Would the 3X CLI already trigger their review? I heard once you try to get over 30K limit with AMEX they require the IRS-4056T form for income/asset verification.

But that was years ago

Whats it like now and should I? I know its just a quick thing and no hard pull but was wondering if there is any optimization these days

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Ok hubby's account reached 90+ days he has the bare minimum SL 500.00. Requested a CL online and got this email:

"We've finished reviewing your credit limit increase request. To get the details of our decision please contact our Customer Care team at your earliest convenience by calling 1-800-535-7790.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you for your Card Membership.

FYI my husbands loathes talking on the phone especially to credit card companies so not sure if I can get him to call or wait for the letter but does this seem like a denial?
