The JetBlue Card

Hi Everyone!

I've been doing a lot of research recently on credit cards that I would like to app for and I think I have the two I want. The JetBlue Mastercard and Capital One Quicksilver (Not Quicksilver One). My question is, has anyone been approved for the JetBlue Mastercard or Quicksilver as a student?

Here are my stats: I am an 18 year old college student, therefore I can not get a prequal because of my age Smiley Sad , I have had a Discover It Chrome student card for 8 months. I only have that one inqury on my file, with a TU Fico score of 750 no baddies, no late payments or anything of that sort. I would be reporting probably around $16,000 or so for income because I have a part time job. I got the Discover reporting $8k, I also have a lot saved up in a few savings accounts, if I report those it would be around $50,000ish. I have been gardening with responsible usage, my last utilization that reported was 5% and I always pay on time. I do, however, only have a $750 limit on my Discover and they say I need some more time before getting another CLI.

On the Barclay app it says, "Please include all of your sources of income, including income from assets, that you would like considered as a basis of repayment." Would I be able to include the savings accounts then? I was planning on apping for Barclay first since I've read they can be inq sensitive, then Capital One. I bank with Capital One so I could always use that if I would have to recon. I would like to have both of these cards as they would complement each other nicely and have no FTF or AF. I do not want to get rejected so what is my best course of action? Wait for the 1 year mark? App one now then wait for the other?

Thanks for all the help everyone!

If you're planning on using or willing to use your savings to pay your debt than sure you can add it though honestly I wouldn't and just not include it. With an income of $16,000 as a student along with a 750 TU you should be fine

You can't include your total savings as income.  'Income from assets' refer to any interest that you receive from your savings and has to be reported as income.

Ah figured you could use it if you wanted to use it as repayment ... I don't bother using a Savings account since the interest on it is poor anyways...  I just have another bank account to save money.

Re: The JetBlue Card

My main concern is the short credit history. What do you think about that? Would I be denied for only having 8-9 months of history?

Re: The JetBlue Card

You may be approved but realistically be prepared for low SL's, especially from Barclays. Why a QS and not a QS 1? Is it the annual fee?

Re: The JetBlue Card

Well I couldn't help myseld I apped, and I was instantly declined. I reconned and the nice lady said I meet all Barclay standards so she's overturning the decision I got $1,000 not terrible but not the best either! I am overjoyed nontheless to get my denial overturned! Still not bad for an 18 year old college student? Do the limits grow without hard pulls or will that be hard?

Re: The JetBlue Card

Congrats on your successful recon. I had a feeling Barclays would be stingy, but considering your relatively new profile it's not unrealistic. It's growth depends really on you and how much you use it. It can grow automatically but be prepared to have to call and ask for a CLI on your own, if so call and ask for an apr reduction and while that's in process ask about a CLI to avoid a HP, there's plenty of more detailed threads on that here be sure to research it. Good luck and Congrats.
