I see so many people with success when using the backdoor numbers to be reconsidered for approval or higher credit lines but I've tried with Walmart to reconsider giving me a higher opening credit line - Declined! I tried contacting Barclays to have my denial be reconsidered - Declined! They are just not working for me and its just so frustrating. I told myself I was going to try Barclays again but I'm expecting the same result.

I'm sorry to hear about your denials but from reading these boards many people have had successes after calling back a second time and in some cases a third or more time. I wish you luck.

Well, walmart doesn't recon.. No GE/Synchrony cards do.. The best Recon banks are Barclays, Chase and BOA... Some have had success with a Citi recon, but not likely..IMHO
Also alot of of it depends on your credit profile on how how thin or thick it is... and tons of fators go into it and whether recon will work, etc... What was the decline reason on Barclay's?

The resaon for the decline is because of my debt to income ratio bascially my student loans. I may not be able to get aroung that.
Ya that could be a hard one to get by depending on income and what you owe on student loans and other credit obligations...
Be careful on a second recon with Barclay's. It will result in another Hard Pull

Why? They already pulled your credit.. No addtional HP.. Unless, they ask you to pull another report.. So, if they pulled TU and you recon and they say "I can reconsider but i have to look at your EQ report, is that ok? You would have to consent to that extra pull.. They cant HP without permission... Now, sometimes people get a bad CSR who swear a CLI is a SP.. when it turns out it's not.. but a credit analyst or underwriter should always be giving the correct information and usually do.

4 recons here. Same single (1) hard pull on TU for Sallie Mae.

When I called Walmart/Synchrony for a starting credit limit recon she did a SP without informing me and I was upset about that. I thought she was going to review my report originally pulled the prior week. At first she led me to believe it was a HP pull but then told me it was a SP.
