Nonsense! After 10 months I have accumulated almost $4 in rewards! Don't want to miss out!
I was approved for the Amex ED with a $500 SL 6 months ago with similar scores. If you're preapproved, go for it. You will likely get a $500 or $1000 limit but with time it will grow and it will be great to get in with Amex. I was just approved for two more Amex cards, the Delta Blue and BCE, both at $1000 SL and my score according to them is 659. So I think you'd safely get in. Go for it!
Keep in mind, with lower scores you may not qualify for the sign up bonus. But regardless, still nice to get in with them. I'm not sure yet if my Delta Blue card qualified for the sign up bonus, I guess I'll find out when the card arrives.

I travel a lot and would love the extra points. I am preapproved but I am afraid to get an HP.Thanks!
LOL, I thought if denied its only an SP, if Approved its an HP? I don't know if that only applies to current Amex members.
I would wait. I was like you when I got mine and am still stuck with a $1000 CL. Between this, my Hilton and SPG, I have only received an increase with the SPG.
If you are an existing member, and see the "congrats you are pre-approved message" it might be a SP even if approved.
If you were to pull the trigger, chances are you'd get approved for $1000.
$1000 is a "starter" level for Amex and people with this SL have had problems getting CLI down the road. If I were you, Id wait til your EX was 675+ so you'd get a $1500+ SL and have no future problems
