Re: Tips for getting a Discover CLI?

Discover is weird .....They will deny you CLI on one card but then approve you for a 2nd card with a higher limit then the first ....(What they did with me)

Cracking the Discover Meta for CLI's is a age old gauntlet

Re: Tips for getting a Discover CLI?

The serious answer if you want want to skip my tomfoolery is nobody knows.

Now for the tomfoolery. You can try:
- Saying "abracadabra" when clicking the button
- Holding a horseshoe in one hand while clicking the button
- Wearing a horseshoe on your head while clicking the button
- Use a Magic 8-Ball; wait to click the button until it says yes
- Find someone skilled in the mystic art of reading chicken bones; apply if chicken bone reading favorable

These ideas are as good as anything else when it comes to Discover. Good luck!

Re: Tips for getting a Discover CLI?

I'm not sure if a larger spend is the answer as I was also denied and I use my card regularily and pay befor the statement cuts. My goal is to get my $5.6k CL to $10k CL, eventually.Smiley Wink

That's my goal as well, and it has been for the last nearly 3 years! 😂😭

I've taken to using it to pay my rent and paying off before the statement cuts... that uses up 90 percent of my CL.

I'd be happy to get that sucker above 2k where it has sat since it graduated nearly 1.5 years and 50-80 FICO points ago!

But that's the trade-off I've made for my Wonton Credit-Seeking Ways!  Disco is a jealous one!

Re: Tips for getting a Discover CLI?

I have done 3 requests as of now, and the 3rd CLI finally went through today, but I still have ways to go to 5 digits.
Usage wise I always had activity on the card and used the 5% categories, except for this quarter I have barely used it. Last month I did max the card temporarily (but not for the 5% category).

Overall I feel like it just didn't matter. The lenght of holding the card (probably due to my overall history) did matter though, as Discover stated in previous rejections that they don't have enough on file about me.

Income is 6 digits, so that didn't contribute much to my CLI either.

Started with a N/A score (immigrant) :-)

Total CL: $52,650 | Now gardening until June 2023.

Perhaps prepay a few months of rent/mortgage using a service like Plastiq?
