PenFed pulls Equifax FICO 9 scores to evaluate membership applications; and will use the same pull if you apply for a credit product in the first 30-60 days. If you haven't received correspondence from them stating your EQ FICO 9 score; it might be possible to login to your online account and check the Message Center (in the upper right corner) for any correspondence. I would certainly apply with PenFed now. Are the derogatories included on your Equifax report?

I recently got in with NFCU in January and got their Go Rewards signature Visa at the same time. Just yesterday I opened an acct with Penfed to foster a relationship with them as well. My question is this...should I go for a 2nd NFCU card with the next AR and try for a card with Penfed now or wait until some major lates age off this November?
AMEX and Discover have been generous with me as of late and I've treated the NFCU card well the past few months. From what I understand both credit unions can be generous but I'm apprehensive about pushing my luck.
My only baddies are the 6.5 year old major lates and a 30 day from a snafu with Chase 23 months ago. AaoA is 4.5 to 5.5 years depending on CRA, 20% util, scores below.

I have a subscription with MyFICO and it shows my EQ FICO Score 9 at 759 currently. Yes the derogs are present across all CRA and came from student loans that are paid in full. I have read some encouraging posts but still feel a little gun shy. Fortune favors the bold right?
I was approved for the Promise Visa with an EQ FICO 9 score of 712 and FICO 8 scores in the 640-660 range. When I applied for the Power Cash Rewards my EQ FICO 9 score had climbed to 785. PenFed has tightened up their lending standards recently and appear to cap lending to new members at around $10K but I have no doubt you'd qualify for any credit product you want from them.
