To apply or not to apply....

Hello folks! I just recently opened a NavyFCU checking/savings acct and am contemplating applying for a credit card with them, but before I run my credit I wanted to check on here to see what you all think my approval odds are.

I presently am reading at 580 on CreditKarma.com which uses the Vantage 3.0 score so I am sure my FICO score will read higher. When I opened my account with NavyFCU I noted that they pulled TransUnion which happens to be one company that still has an active dispute on it.

Do you all think I should wait until the disputes are off before applying? I have one collections account which I am working on getting removed and I plan to pay off my credit card ballances next month.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

Starting Score: 550

Why not pull some FICO's on here to see where you stand? I recommend the 3 Bureau monitoring for $25/mo. You get a report with it initially but requires a 3 month sub.

Re: To apply or not to apply....

NFCU typically only pulls TU for membership not for credit products.  What does your Equifax look like?  That seems to be their favorite bureau to pull, and beleive me they like HP's.  They are probably thinking about pulling your Equifax just becuase you are thinking about applying!

Re: To apply or not to apply....

My Equifax is sitting at a 580 on CreditKarma.com, I have one collection account (small $94) which I am working on PFDing presently. Everything else on my report is in good standing.

Re: To apply or not to apply....

I've heard of people with high 500's getting one but you would be better off waiting until you hit low 600's IMO

Credit Karma should be used for entertainment purposes only. The scores are fake and in some cases may deviate over 70 points from an actual Fico.
