My FICO scores are TU 710, Equifax 712, Experian 682

I have about a dozen other cards, 3 from Barclays

My weaknesses are lots of recent inquiries & new accounts + public record stuff from 8 years ago

you pretty much answered your own question. Stop applying let the accounts age. How long? Well I would let all your inqs be at least a year old so i would wait 1 year from the last time you applied for something.  A lot can happen in a years time with credit. This time last year i had fingerhut, boa secured, cap one secured and now look at my signature below. You might have too many barclaycards as well, i dont think ive ever seen anyone with more than 3 i might be wrong though.

I can't help to notice that you reported having a secured BOA a year ago. When I check your footnotes (the cards that you have now) I don't see anything with BOA. Is there a reason you don't have a card with BOA unsecured at this moment with all that credit you have?

Concur.  I am debating whether to jump out in December 2015, or go for December 2016.  I want my AAoA to grow, and I want to see scores rise above 760 (would love to see 800, but without mortgage, might be harder to accomplish).

Signature needs updating

very good question. Boa really pissed me off when it came to unsecuring the secured card. I never missed a payment for 13 months, always paid in full but they wanted to HP me to get the card unsecured. I dont care much about HP unlike many others on this board but I would never use the boa 123 rewards card beacuse sallie mae is that much better. So i ened up just closing the card took my money and never looked back.

Well that is very interesting on your part. I would have stuck it out with them if I was you though. Either way, you have nice lines of credit and I presume you have come along way, Great Job on your behalf!

Come to think about, I would have put forth that much energy in BOA opose to Barclay. BOA would have came through for ya, expecially by now.

I only really use credit cards for rewards thats it. The 123 rewards card is just very lackluster compared to sallie mae.
