I have 2 AMEX cards so far and I believe 4 is the max. Received my delta gold back in early sept and the others are from May of this year
Starting CLs were 9K for the ED, $5K for the Blue Sky, $5K for the Delta Gold. I'm afraid that if I app for the BCE, I'll get another 4 digit SL. Also thinking of waiting to the new CL ($25K) of my pendfed card to report before apping -- if that helps.
Thoughts?
UPDATE: Approved. $10K SL.

If you did get approved, I think it is highly likely that you would get a low 4 digit SL.
That's my thought too but that sign up bonus is pretty generous

Did you actually get the targeted offer, or are you seeing if you can get in on it based on the other thread? If you were targeted I would say go for it ![]()

Sorry but I don't see a 5 digit CL being likely. You probably should just pass on this one.
When's the last time you saw a $500 cash bonus from Amex? CLs can always grow, bonuses like this one don't always come around.
IMO, I would decide if the bonus amount outweighs a potentially lower starting limit or vice versa. That's the call I had to make for myself, but I do have a CLI request eligible next month and I have thousands I can reallocate from another card.

Guess I'll pass.
Huh????
Wait, OP, let's get a few things clear here.
$500 targeted bonus offers for no-AF cards do not come along very often, if at all. That's 16% cash back, last time I checked.
With AMEX, regardless of the starting line you get, you decide the direction you want to take that credit line in, on which card. Want a larger limit on this card? Use your CLI request on this card. Want it on your Delta card? Make the request on that one. Want to move the limit? Wait for the 13 statements and move the CL around. Starting CL is just a start to the negotiations at AMEX.
sheesh. Passing up a $500 real cash bonus because you are worried about how much funny money they will tell you you could borrow. Your choice.
edit: A good reason to pass this up would be if you had a larger plan you were working toward, something bigger than $500. Using the reason as you are worried about the AMEX SL, in my opinion, isn't the strongest reason to pass on this. You don't have to take the offer, but please use a reason stronger than "I don't want a 4 digit SL".
