As I stated in a previous post I was approved for the discover it card with a credit limit of $4000 and reported my total income as $81,000 which after I checked my Self-Help HR portal was $81,419 which is my total reward. When I reviewed my total reward my pay and incentives amount it was $72,000 so I called Discover today to ask them which amount they required as I wanted to be make sure they had the correct income amount. They told me to call back on Monday. When I looked at my email they had apparantly already sent me the verification email on Friday. I have not activated my card yet and will call them first thing on Monday. What do you think will happen in this situation?
UPDATE: I just got off the phone with the nicest man from Discover who stated that because I had a fraud alert on my Credit they had to verify my information. He did see that I called on Saturday and said, this is why you could not talk to anyone until I talked to you. I told him about my income situation and he said no problem I have updated it in the system and whenever you get income increases just update it on your account page. He asked me if I wanted him to activate my card and I was so happy to hear the words "Welcome, to Discover"! Special thank you to @Anonymous, @breakman7997 and @AverageJoesCredit for taking the time to answer my back and forth questions! I love this forum!

I am confused. Did they send you a 4506? or is it something else?
Thanks
Mark
@Anonymous No they sent me an email "Call Back Request" as the subject and stating they are "sending this letter because we discovered that we need to verify some of the information listed on your account."

OK , I would activate the card right away. Then call them back. They may need to verify something else. It could be anything. The only time they can actually verify your income is if they request the 4506 through the EQ and IRS. They did this to me back in February which I gladly complied with. If they wanted to verify your actual income they would have sent you a 4506. But since they did not do that they problably have a question about something else. It may be something very minor. Keep us posted after you make the call
Thanks
Mark
@Anonymous ok I will activate it now and will keep you posted on what they say!
@Anonymous I tried to activate online but I couldn't activate my card. I called the number they gave me and the CSR said I would have to call back on Monday and gave me the phone number on the email I received.
Can you call the phone number on the sticker that is on the card to activate? Try that. They may have put a temporary block on the account until you call in. Once the card is issued it is going on your credit report so I would not worry. Try to activate over the phone. If not call security on Monday morning. Something simple can cause this to happen. Been there done that to me too LOL. I have been with Discover for many decades and they always seem to amaze me and never in a good way.
Thanks
Mark
@Anonymous I did and it connected me to the credit manager it wouldn't let me activate! the email stated "As part of our normal business processes, we regularly review customer accounts to ensure we are complying with regulatory requirements. We are sending you this letter because we discovered that we need to verify some of the information listed on your account. To ensure your account is up to date, please give us a call at your earliest convenience at 1-800-717-9829." Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I would think since you are brand new with them they just want to ask you some questions that only you would know the answer to. Like what color car did you have in 2002, what was the name of the street that you grew up on, etc. Public records just to be sure that the person they issued the card to is really you. I actually prefer when banks do this as I have had my share of criminals trying to steal my info over the years as well
Thanks
Mark
@Anonymous Honestly that makes sense! I initialy had a fraud alert on my credit reports and I took it off the day after I applied for Discover. Someone opened a unemployment claim in my name last year so I am assuming they want more information.
