US Bank CLI questions

Hi all,

On Monday, 12/28 I applied for a CLI through US Bank through their online application center and just had a few questions about the process for those who have done it before.

1) How long does it typically take for a response?

2) Are you notified by them online (for both denials and raises?), or only through the mail?

Any data points would be very helpful.

Thank you for your time and insight.

Re: US Bank CLI questions

Can't speak for a CLI, but when I applied for the Cash+ it said i'd be notified in the mail, within 7-10 days, and a couple days later I sign into my checking/savings acct at USBank and see a credit card section appeared saying I have a $2000 credit limit with a Cash Rewards card (The card they consider you for if you don't get approved for the Cash+)

So I am assuming you will only be notified via mail, but if you do get a CLI you should see it on the website when you login before you get the letter in the mail. As to how long, not sure since USBank likes to manually review pretty much everything and theres christmas that just passed and now new years so it maybe a little longer then it would normally take.

1) How long does it typically take for a response? Expect a decision in 3-4 business days. You can call within this timeframe to find out.

2) Are you notified by them online (for both denials and raises?), or only through the mail? You would see an increase online, if granted.  Denials would be by mail or if you called to find out.

Any data points would be very helpful.

Re: US Bank CLI questions

I've found the best success with calling the underwriting department backdoor number. Seems to be a little more flexible than the online process. They are typically more conservative.

Are you saying the people who review the online apps are more conservative?

Or are you saying Us Bank as a whole?

Re: US Bank CLI questions

Good luck, OP. I had a hard time a few years ago with US Bank and CLIs but I also did not use the backdoor numbers. I imagine speaking with an underwriter and being able to explain why you need it and any other questions he/she may have could be very beneficial. Keep us updated.

Re: US Bank CLI questions

US Bank generally takes 3-4 days to process a CLI request. They don't send an online response immediately. You will see a paper response in about 10 days, whether accepted or declined. If accepted, an email comes a week or so after the paper mail.

Online, you can find out whether a CLI was awarded after 4-5 days, but not for Visa Signature cards. Their limits are not displayed online so no way to check if the limits got changed.
