I am going to ride the parade that US Bank more often then not pulls from TU.
With that said, what do you think my approval odds are with:
I feel since Chase is going to hold me back due to 5/24 for over a year, the US Bank Cash+ card would
be a good card to grab with the 5% categories.
Your chances are very good IMHO. How long ago were the last credit cards opened? I'd apply for the gold checking account and let the system offer the US bank Cash+ card. The bank account is free with a CC. Accept the card if offered.
Oh forgot to mention they use TU FICO 9 for apps IME.
Having the checking account is the easiest way to move rewards, when the time comes.
5 personal cards in the last year I'm thinking very low. People have been declined recently for 1 or 2, much less 5. They are being real sticklers about new accounts lately.
You can try starting a relationship by opening a checking or savings with them and see if you can get an offer but other than that, I would say it's time to hit the garden until you're at 0/12 unless you want to roll the dice.

Wow - when i clicked to learn more about a Savings account, it asked for my zip and I got the following:
"..U.S. Bank doesn't offer checking or savings accounts in your area. .."

The nearest US bank to me is 286 miles away, in a different state.
Did you try any of the other options?

TBH, I didn't. I really just wanted to try for the card - but I don't want to waste a HP on what
could be a denial.
There is a thread here that may interest you if you're wanting to get in with US Bank.
Thanks for the link @saeren !
After reading the OPs notes, I gotta admit thats too many hoops for me to go thru for that card.
I guess I'll have to wait longer until I feel comfortable about a cold app for the Cash+
Yeah it definitely seemed like a bit of work to me but I just wanted to put it out there in case it seemed like it was worth it.
I would just garden. That's what I'm doing right now. I'll be 0/12 in October. The first two months of gardening was rough with the temptations but now it's cake.

This is why I asked when was the last CC you opened, that reported to the CB's?
US Bank is senstivie to new accounts. Just depends on how new those accounts are.
There are no guarantees in an approval. No matter who you apply with or how good you may believe your credit is.
You always have to be willing to accept a denial.
Inqs aren't life sentences. They fade away. Once you feel comfortable, whenever that may be.. go for it. As that is the only way you'll obtain this card or any other.
If denied, take it on the chin and keep moving. Take a break for a few months and try again at a later date. Keep trying until you break through. That's what I did. I've opened around 30 new accounts in the last 24 months. 4 of those are with US bank.
I'm no Jedi like Saeren, but this kid has been around the block a few times. lol
A lot of times it isn't the scores, inqs or new accounts that holds folks back from getting what they want.
It's simply just them. The fear of rejection can keep those who could have rebuilt their credit sooner, from doing so.
I know because I was once just like them.
