Hi all,
I've been looking at this card for a while now. I like the fact that you can pick (??) the 5% rotating category.
When I check the prequal page, it comes up. How accurate is US Bank's pre-qual? Are they a conservative lender?
Anyone who has this card -- I'd appreciate feedback and DP's.
I have two US Bank Cash+ cards. I PC'd my old US Plat to the Cash+, so no real data points there, but when I applied for the other one just over a year ago, I was just over 700 FICO (EX), under 5% UTI, only baddie is a 30 day late on my US Plat from back in 2013. I got an initial $7.5K SL which was increased to $10.5K about three months later. I personally really enjoy these cards as they really compliment the rest of my portfolio and my spending habits.
Do you get to "pick" your 5% category? Like dining/bars, gas, grocery stores, etc?

Yes, but the 5% categories are:
- Select clothing stores
- Gym/fitness centers
- Sporting good stores
- Cell phones
- Bookstores
- Electronic stores
- Furniture stores
- Car Rentals
- Charity (I think this has since been removed?)
- Movie theaters
- Fast food
You get to pick two 5% categories each quarter
2% categories are: Gas stations, restaurants, grocieries. You get to pick one of these each quarter
I just use these cards for the 5% categories as I have other cards I use for the 2% categories that yeild a better return. My 5% categories are typically fast food, cell phone, select clothing stores and department stores.

I hope this helps!
Very helpful, thanks!
Can anyone provide insight as to if they're a really conservative lender? My scores are mid-600's, but BoA, Chase, Discover, NFCU seem to like me.
Thanks
I think you have a good shot. If they don't approve you for the Signature version of the card, they will most likely approve you for the non Signature version (which is the same card, with the same rewards sans Signature benefits). Based on the info in your siggy, I see no concerns apping for the Cash+! Good luck and keep us posted!
I was recently approved for this and FlexPerks Select+ Amex. $2k on FlexPerks, $1k on Cash+. My TU was only 629 when I applied. I have been a banking customer for about 8 years though, which I've heard makes a difference. Income just under $100k. They gave me the Visa Signature.
Thanks for the data points... Did you get the VS or just the normal Visa with a SL of $1K?
Update --
Declined. Too many request inquiries/accounts. Decided not to Recon and just take the HP. Almost all of my credit is new and I REALLY need to garden. Might freeze my CR's after my auto insurance policy renews (I work in insurance and requested they re-rate my policy -- it's a TU SP). My credit is over 100 pts. better than it was when they pulled it in January of this year.
Thanks for all the assistance, folks. I'm gonna stick to SP CLI's and just let my accounts age, and inquiries fall off. I need to stick to the Garden Club thread for the next year
