US Bank SL Recon Fail

Last week I posted about being approved for US Bank’s Altitude Reserve. Part of that approval post was a SL Recon attempt as the limit is $9k and I was hoping for a little more wiggle room for utilization. This card will be one of my daily drivers along with CSP.

Today I found out that the SL would not be increased and that too many new accounts was the reason for denial. I definitely can’t complain as $9k is a respectable limit from US Bank and it was the 5th card approved since January.

Unfortunately, however, I won’t be able to take a HP CLI until next summer (2020). Here’s to hoping for an auto CLI or SP CLI mailer!

I’m also considering an experiment to see what would happen to my profile with a single card crossing 28.9% while aggregate stays below 8.9%. I suppose we’ll see if I want to use it enough to cross that threshold.

Congrats on the approval. That really is a good SL for US Bank. Some of us weren’t so lucky lol

Congrats on the approval and the SL.  

Surprised you were unable to recon an increase.  But then I have found that US Bank, is somewhat quirky in their approvals and SLs.  When I was approved, my SL was $5k.  When I received the card, I called and requested an increase to $10k.  I must admit, I was shocked when it was approved.

Winesnob, it’s probably worth noting that my Cash+ never saw heavy spend and subsequently there isn’t much in the way of payment history with US Bank. You also have much better higher scores than I do.

Unfortunately I doubted that I’d get approved (though I’ve wanted the card for about a year). If I’d been more optimistic I probably would have apped sooner.

Congrats on the approval. US Bank is known to give auto-CLI's after 9-10 months, it's not guaranteed but it does happen. I'd give it that time and see what happens.

Thanks xaximus, I can’t take a HP until 7/2020 so if it doesn’t grow through Auto or SP CLIs by then I’ll take a HP.

Chasing750.  I forgot to mention that I had been declined for a US Bank PLOC the same day the Altitude Reserve was approved for $5k.  When I received the card a few days later, I requested the cli and was approved for $10k. That was the reason I was shocked at the increase.
