Unusual CLI Request Denial from Synchrony

I have 4 accounts with Synchrony

Amazon $6K (8/11/15),

Walmart $6K (10/11/15),

Sam's CLub $8K (10/01/15), and

Lowes $12K (9/15/15), all store cards.

I had nice CLI's thru out the time, mostly all within a month or so opening the accounts, and since then i have stuck at those limits. SInce they got to their highest limits i have been asking for cli occasionally and always been denied with several different reasons such as uti, high balance on installment loans, not enough experience with the current limit and etc. Yesterday, i received a denial letter for my Lowes card that had a reason listed that i never saw or heard before. The letter says:

Dear XXX,

Synchrony Bank has recently reviewed your request to increase the credit line on you r LOwe's Consumer Credit Card Account.

WE are not able to assign the credit line you requested because it exceeds the amoun of increase our policy allows.

HAs anyone ever come across this reason, or know what it might mean? Maybe an internal limit with them?

Thanks!

Re: Unusual CLI Request Denial from Synchrony

I'm getting more and more denials from them on my cards too. As well as other people. My Walmart and Amazon accounts are stuck at $3500. I was lucky enough to get a $1000 increase on my Lowes from $5000 to $6000. I was expecting more. But, beggars cannot be choosy, so I was okay with that. All of my others accounts....nothing.
So it must be an internal thing with them, because my scores even increased from last time. So who knows

Right now my TU is around 675 Fico due to my uti. I have had it as high as 720's whe uti was low and asked for cli and still denied. Not only on Lowe's but on all accounts.

$3500 and $6K is their steps i think. I see so many people here getting approved for X amount, then jump up to $3500, then to $6K and so on. But my accounts have been stuck with them too. I am not really looking for any more cli at the moment because i have a fairly new credit file, after getting some bad stuff removed last year, and currently my oldest open account is only 18 months old, and out 32 open accounts, 30 of them were opened within the last 10 months. So i decided to stop asking for cli from them, maybe even lower my limit on couple cards, so that i can make room for my other cards (such as Barclay) to grow a little.

I'm guessing this is the reason. Sorry it didn't work out. Smiley Sad

Re: Unusual CLI Request Denial from Synchrony

I can't get anything out of Synch...I received $200 on my Walmart from $500 to $700, which shocked me and that's it.  Amazon always no, Care Credit, nope...Lowe's nope...lousy $300.  Can't buy much at Lowe's for $300 lol.  I do have a JC Penney @ $700 starting credit line.  They hate me.  They taunt me with an approval and make me sit with lowe CL's lol Smiley Frustrated

Re: Unusual CLI Request Denial from Synchrony

I'm waiting to hear what was my denial reasons on my Walmart CLI request.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

Re: Unusual CLI Request Denial from Synchrony

That seems to be their response lately.  I get at least 1k from my Amazon card on a regular basis but the others are always some sort of weird excuse.  If you have nothing on your record, they will think of something to say about you.  I just ask on a regular basis and hope I get lucky.
