I got denied for the Promise as well, and my recon was denied too. My score was 676 but my next gen was 631, which I think is too low for them. :-( But Im back in the garden for a year....it' going to be a long year.
Just an update...as of 7/1/16 Penfed still hates me. Denied for Promise once again. Didn't get my Nextgen score yet. Thankfully I was able to get into NFCU and they seem to like me. I wrote yet another email asking for reconsideration but I do not expect a favorable outcome. At this point, unless I receive a preapproval some day I am DONE wasting inquiries on Penfed. Done.
Once again...the survey was the key to success. I got the survey earlier today. I filled it out and did not score them very well. I mentioned my frustrations in the comment box. I got a voicemail from someone an hour later. Just got off the phone with "Jenny". After we talked for a few minutes about my rebuild and reasons for wanting the Promise card, she took a look at my report and said "I see no reason why we can't get you approved". She put me on hold to talk to a "senior loan officer". Literally 30 seconds later...BAM..approved for $5,000! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

Congratulations bman98!
I had to use the survey and reverse psychology on PENFED. I was approved for almost 20k at NFCU instantly but I had to fight for with PENFED to get a Promise card.
I'm glad you're finally approved. Now you them to increase your Fico scores!
